Corona and other diseases

So I don't think people should shop Dollar General right now. They're Anti-Mask and said they would not enforce any laws that require wearing a face mask or require their employees to wear them...

I didn't even know Dollar General was still a store

I work at Family Dollar (the competition) and we as employees are supposed to wear masks, but Corporate told us we can't refuse customers for not wearing them. :whatever:

I don't understand why people can't seem to figure out why this is happening. The **** was never gone, why did they think we'd be able to start up normalcy again?

Big tough guy who slams knives on tables and wears guns like fanny packs but is so ****ing cowardly he can't go to the market without an assault rifle.

Yea, I'll believe you'd fight in any uprising. Before or after peeing your pants?

The poster boy of selfish moronic Americans. This right here is why the world laughs at us.

What's this prick gonna do? Do a mass shooting over masks? He needs to be removed or society.

So basically the US has treated the response to COVID like its response to gun violence and mass shootings. The rest of the world has figured it out, and its citizens comply for the greater benefit to society. Meanwhile the US throws its hands up and says, there’s nothing we can do, we just have to learn to live with it for the price of freedom.
Pretty much. Yay, America.

I don't doubt it...
Scenes like Brighton beach the other day aren’t very encouraging. Luckily the death rate has fallen a lot or we would probably be back to how bad it was at its peak.

I can't believe how stupid some people are. You won't get me anywhere near beaches at the moment. I also like the occasional pint, but there is no way I will visit a pub or restaurant until there is a tried and tested vaccine.
I love the cinema, but again, with all that recirculated air? Not a chance...
And don't get me started on air travel!

Give it 2/3 weeks... There will be some massive spikes. Perhaps fairly localised. But spikes nevertheless...

What does worry me are these recent hotspots in meat processing facilities/abattoirs or whatever you want to call them.
My worry is not knowing why there is a infection rise in these particular areas, is it staff not wearing PPE or worse still, infection in the meat coming out when the carcasses are worked on?
I truly hope it is the former because the latter is potentially way, way worse.

Id guess staff in close quarters for long days without proper equipment and precautions.

PANDEMIC IS SPEEDING UP, ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING OVER: WHO

I haven't heard of that happening in other countries where they've had to shut down meat processing plants so I don't think that is the problem. Of course it would be a whole new level of danger if it was.

They are COVID deniers, probably the same people as climate change deniers. They don’t trust the media or mainstream scientists. I don’t know how much of their thinking is based in paranoia and how much in thinking they are smarter than everyone else.

The truth is, a lot of people would rather have never shutdown in the first place, and now that they get any "freedom" they take it the extra mile right out of the gate. They aren't worried about getting sick. They think they will beat it, and if others die, they don't care as long as they aren't their friends or family.

What a strange country. A kid and a woman getting food/drink, and a few metres away an angry looking man with an assault rifle in plain view.

I'd be scared to see anyone just walking around with a gun like that. We don't see that where I live in Massachusetts. :(

At least they require the staff to wear them. The employees don't wear them and it's usually the manager pushing a Trump narrative that does it.

I've seen a gun of any type only a handful of times in my whole life. I wouldn't be surprised if there were many people in the UK who had never seen one.

I live in NE Ohio and the only people I’ve ever seen carrying guns are cops.
Oh that's good to know. I don't really have any idea of how common it is for civilians to carry them out in public in the US.
