I can easily see designers having access to THE DARK KNIGHT designs. These are two very high profile WB projects. Regardless of whether they did or not, the suit forms an obvious commentary on the overdesigned nature of modern superhero outfits.

I was comparing the Nite Owl suit to the comic book outfit and I'm really happy with some of the things they kept in the design, such as the cut of the gauntlets and boots, and the "feathering" on the helmet and neckpiece. And I like that the "moon/owlarang" is on his belt, even if it's not at the center.

One wonders what Ozymandias' movie footwear will look like.

the weird thing is, ozymandis is my favorite of the bunch.

People are complaining that it's too close in comparrison with batman and robin, but i dont believe that's the true outlook of this. in context, ozymandis's suit works, nipples? fitting for something which is obviously designed to envoke greek and egyptian culture, the idea is the suit is designed to embody the feel of a greek god carved from stone, from the nipples down to the stylized belly button you can see this was their goal.

The style and tone of the suit is what gets me, the purple, gold, and silver on black scheme is incredibly eye pleasing to me. The suit looks almost carved out of something, and it instantly makes me feel the power of the character. Honestly, i love it.

And come on... look at the head stylized greek crown, tell me that isint just cool? iconic even. I am a hyped watchmen fan tonight!

When Schumacher took control of the Bat Franchise, he was told that he had to make a Batman that sold toys, sold merchandise. So he dressed him up in a rubble suit with nipples and it was a bit flamboyant.

Ya know, the more I look at these pics, the more I can't stand the awful wigs they gave to Comedian and Silk Spectre. I know they're trying to get it just like the comic for Comedian, but my God, was his hair THAT big?

That's really my only beef. I think everything else looks pretty decent.

The Ozy costume is pretty bad looking. Reminds me instantly of everything that started to go wrong with the 90's Batman movies.

I mean... nipples? On a suit?

Nite Owl looks alright because it at least stays with the theme and look of his original costume. The others all look great.

But I must say, after seeing Ozy, I'm almost surprised Rorschach isn't sporting a rubber suit with a huge belt and black glass where the ink blot should be.

I'm not crazy about the Ozymandias look, if for no other reason than having him wear armor takes something away from the badass-ness of him catching a bullet. I'm also not sure on the colors, but it's tough to tell based on the lighting.

Everything else? I can dig. Comedian and Rorscharch couldn't be much better, and Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are understandable departures from what was drawn.

The more I see from this movie the more I'm looking forward to seeing it.

realistic? right...

none of the suits from the original comics scream realism. i have faith in snyder. 300 is probably the closest anyone has EVER gotten to the origina lsource material, including the color and tone (in addition to Sin City, but Frank millar helped direct that personally).

It wasn't uncommon to have nipples on armour to complete the human look. While a lot of people hated schumacher for this, his reason was to give batman a more organic feel. Do i agree with his choice? NO. but i understand what he was trying to do.

Here's what I think:

Rorschach: Perfect

Comedian: Perfect

Nite-Owl: Pretty good. It's closer than a lot of people think; the only differences that stand out to me are the goggles (I'd prefer round), the headpiece (meh), and the added texture (excellent). The feathery look is awesome, and although brown-and-gray might have been more faithful, all-brown is fine. Besides, he's supposed to be the high-tech wizard of the story. The costume fits.

Silk Spectre: Hard to tell, but looks pretty good. It's pretty much the same thing, but skintight. It's yellow and black and has heels; it's hard to mess that up.

Ozymandias: Growing on me. Let me just say, as many have said before me, that if any superhero deserved nipples on a costume, it would be Ozymandias. The semi-Greek motif is appropriate, considering his worship of Alexander the Great. He's still got a ring around his neck (changed for mobility), a loincloth of sorts, and his costume's still purple and gold (plus some black). And actually, the black looks like leather to me (not rubber as some have said).
