Iron Man Could GTA4 put a dent in Iron Man boxoffice in North America and Overseas!

Wow GTA has become such a phenom that people are expecting it to hurt cinema ticket sales. Seriously I don't see the connection.

i cant ever see this happening my brother is a huge gta fan and he even wants to go 2 the midnite screenings of iron man plus there has been such a drought of movies like these lately that i think everyone is going to want 2 see this one.

I don't see the hype for GTA, it's quite boring too me. I'd rather be constantly shooting crap then doing gay missions like "Get teh moneys back b***!"

Ok now I have to find out where you live and break your knee caps for disrespecting GTA

because people can't buy a game and play it whenever they want to...

not to mention when you get an addictive game you can't take a 2 hour break from it to go see a bada$$ movie...

seriously, people who actually think this is gonna happen are lacking some major logic.

Oh well and Harry Potter releases a book and it hurts, and a dvd is released, and so forth. There's always competition if anything Iron Man might hurt the game. In this economy the movie costs less than a $60 game and most people want it now not later so they rent the game and pay for a movie ticket. Besides GTA is getting tired.

the only thing it could possibly hurt is the opening weekend, if any gamers skip out on opening weekend to play the game they no doubt will catch it the next weekend or at some point

It doesn't matter. Hollywood claimed that's why the movie bombed. The point is they can't have it both ways.

This movie's boxoffice won't be hurt by a 60dollar videogame.

Alex over at Firstshowing.net has brought up this point at his site, he also throws some good ideas out there.

GTA is the easy scapegoat if Iron Man doesn't meet box office expectations. At least this time it's comparable though, the Halo 3 affected Heartbreak Kid was laughable, did movie producers really think people playing Halo 3 would be interested in a romantic comedy, sure it had Ben Stiller, but it looked very much like a cookie cutter romantic comedy. I don't think GTA will affect Iron Man's opening weekend though, if they can't tear themselves away for 2-3 hours to see the movie they probably weren't very interested to see it in the first place.

The Farrelly Bros. haven't been draws in about 10 years. Plain and simple. But movie studios will always try and find scapegoats.

So why can GTA 4 have no affect when according to them, Halo 3 totally did?

So I guess we got our answer, major video game releases don't affect the box office. People just don't want to waste money on horrible looking movies.

:yay:

This was dumbest thing I've ever heard. Shows how out of touch these "experts" are.

Please stop trying to link movies and video games in any way. Video games are NEVER going to replace movies or impact them in any way, and I don't care how many snobby "Gaming Experts" try and say they will.

They are 2 entirely different things. I would call them "mediums" but even that implies a similarity of some kind.
