Don't believe a single good thing you hear about the script or character development of next weekend's sci-fi western.

Twitter review: Cowboys and Aliens is shooting blanks. Boring, horrible script, bad editing, Craig sounds like he was ADR'd. Hated it.

That COWBOYS AND ALIENS embargo didn't stick, huh?

Peter Sciretta (Slash Film)
Cowboys & Aliens was okay, but nothing special.

#sdcc any cinephile or western lover should see cowboys + aliens; craig and ford carry it. CG aliens are less interesting.

Hmmm Cowboys & Aliens was good not great, I thought. Some cool moments, Daniel Craig kicks ass, I miss seeing Harrison Ford in movies.

"Cowboys & Aliens" is the summer movie you've been waiting for.

Ok about half positive half negative.

Doesn't help me in whether I should see the film or not. I'm 50/50 on this one.

@ColeAbaius (Cole Abaius of Film School Rejects) I enjoyed “Cowboys & Aliens.” A lot of fun, great Western elements, Craig, Ford, et al are fantastic. Nothing earth-shattering, but good-great

Even Stephen King’s son, the excellent Author Joe Hill, chimed in on the premiere: @joe_hill “COWBOYS & ALIENS” is a perfectly crafted action film, full of humor and character and unforgettable beat-downs. Can’t wait to see it again.

Very positive review from THR:

Nonetheless, as the first of undoubtedly a bunch of copycat genre mashups, some of which are bound to be horrendous, Cowboys & Aliens is a solid success. For a tentpole Comic-Con movie, this one devotes a gratifying amount of time to character and achieves most of its success because Favreau has intelligently cast his film and let his actors do their thing. As good as the visual effects are, you walk away from the movie with a memory of actors’ faces, lines of dialogue and actions that speak more to character than to shock and awe.

i'll see it nevertheless...critics are weird and hate movies that are fun

when they showed the trailer during Captain America, some dumb kid behind me was telling his friend "This looks stupid!"

I don't get that....this movie looks freaking awesome.

Anything that's not a remake, sequel or adaptation of something popular always looks stupid at first.

It'll be interesting to see how this fares at the box office this weekend. Cowboys and Aliens and Captain America are basically after the same audience.

EDIT: Never mind. Tapley was talking about a different film and I misread it.

A friend of mine said the same thing...only he was talking about "Tintin". :o

Literally everyone I've spoken with in person about this movie says the same thing. I honestly don't get it. It's goddamn James Bond and goddamn Indiana Jones with a naked Oliva Wilde. This simply cannot suck.

Even if it has no story, no character development, then watch it on mute. It's a western with aliens.

Also, I don't see people complaining about the lack of character development in some of Leone's films like 'For a Few Dollars More'. Which is still awesome, regardless.

I really liked Harrison in Morning Glory. I think this movie is going to be good and I hope it is because I love Daniel Craig but it does look stupid and I won't go see it in theatres, I can wait til it comes to blu ray.

This movie is more of a geek friendly thing. To an average joe, it's more of a WTF this is weird and that's about as far as it would go.

I am in no hurry to see this one & I already spent 30 minutes to almost an hour last weekend to the closest theater to see Captain America. So I will be passing

always nice to see fanboys crying why the general public doesnt like their geek movies. you know that something is not right when on SHH they start counting negative and positive reviews.

muhahahah

I don't think anyone here is crying. I'm just stating what I see and what others seem to be observing as well. Cowboys and aliens together would set off question marks with the GA. They think it's strange and stupid to see such an odd mix up. Plus the title, (which I love) doesn't do any favors either. You really can't have any other title for this movie.

I think you're right....I guess it's too far fetched of an idea.

But a guy dressed up as a bat fighting crime isn't. :P

Well I think this wouldnt have such a "meh" reception form the GA is the name. Idk they think it's a stupid name. I mean Ive heard people say, it looks cool but the name is stupid
