Critics' Reviews: Discussion

There has to be a middle ground achieved somewhere between the GA and Comic fans.. and i guess these are the two extremes.. ha...
There is an easily achievable middle ground, we all know that... whenever you see a movie like Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins... heck, even X2 where it makes a bunch of money but also pleases the comic book fans.

But coming from a person who has never read past the first couple pages of Watchmen, I didn't think the movie was all that bad. I was pretty entertained.

Right on.. But still.. not everyone can be as easily entertained By a Movie like watchmen... especially if they get the wrong idea of what exactly it is... there are alot of morons out there in the "general audience"

^ exactly i watched a guys review on youtube the other day on watchmen and it was crazy how every theme and element of the story went over his head

Oh great. :whatever: You know, people are not morons just because they don't understand Watchmen.

NEVER said that!! LOL. Just simply stating that there ARE indeed ..a LOT of Morons out there in the general audience. And you know it too...

Sorry.
So Neptune, how would you rate Gambit on a scale of 1-10?

I cannot fathom what the critics on RT watched. "Attention to detail", "catering for a sophisticated audience", "concern for characters", "it runs for less than two hours unlike some recent bloated, butt-numbingly long super-hero epics"...

WTF!?

lol I'm not going to resort to the childish, "they were paid off" retort as they may actually have their own opinons of the film. It's not impossible for them to actually have enjoyed the flick.

That being said, I don't understand how anybody can say that the movie was carefully crafted, smart or had decent characterzations. I guess that why they call em opinions.

As for the bloated Superhero epics, when it comes to the Batman movies I agree. I like both of the flicks but they were too long IMHO. (Spider-Man 3 and Superman Returns are a non factor because their running time were they least of their worries)

Glad to see some actual reviews though. I still think that the movie is going to be lucky to hit 60 percent positive but I could be wrong.

Agreed 100%

Seriously, my jaw dropped when I saw the Tomatometer.

Well, 4 out of the 5 reviews are from Australian sites. It's called protecting their own(Hugh Jackman). I remember Jackman's film from last year, Australia, got early positive reviews from the Australian sites as well before the US and UK reviews killed it.

Watchmen made a hell of alot more money than i think it would it stands at 181 million world wide atm

That's peanuts, that is literally, a flop.

And I don't wanna see people on the HYPE turn into people from IMDB, claiming anyone who DARES to give positive reviews are Fox shills or giving sympathy for the leak or because they love Hugh Jackman.

Movie only cost about 100 million.....150 if you count marketing.

Yea, so barely making that back equals flop. Maybe not a massive flop, but it flopped, it bombed, it tanked whatever you wanna call it.

But I guarantee Watchmen will have immense DVD/Blu-Ray sales.

Oh, and it cost more than $100mill to make. Try about $150mill, without marketing and all that.

Watchmen was never going to well....and i'm glad it didnt. I'd hate for WB to get greedy and green light a sequel. :o

Yea I knew it wasn't gonna do well from the moment Snyder basically admitted he was making it for the fans.

Which is a shame, as I've said before, I commend Snyder for basically saying "**** the general audience".

I'm definitely not one of those fans that jumps at the chance to point and yell "Plant!".

I really want to see what Roger Ebert will say about the film though. Whether you agree with his reviews or not he is a professional.

Most reviews I don't care either way, there have been movies I loved that most critics hated. I won't take Ebert's review to heart either way it turns out but I am curious to see what he has to say.

Yea I ALWAYS check what Ebert has to say.

But yea, I don't have blind faith in what critics says. I don't get people like that, you know the extreme cases where they are like "Well this critic said this so he must be right". People like that do my nut in.

Sometimes, if I cant decide on a flick to see, I just see which one has the better rating....it worked on Serentiy.

Yea, if I don't know much about a certain movie, or I don't know about the movies that are out I'll check the reviews out and if I like em I'll try em out.
