Critics' Reviews: Discussion

Yea, but when he says that TV spots had more depth than the actual movie, he kind of loses all credibility.

Nah'meen?

I agree.

I don't know why some people that BARELY ever post in THIS forum, stop by to DUMP on the movie, and to make things worst - the crap they're posting is based entirely on the leak.

If you don't like something, that's fine - but don't go on a crusade to ruin it for everyone else if that something hasn't even been released.

These people like CelticPredator and Dark Victory that come here only to spread nonsense about the workprint seem to have ZERO respect for those of us that are waiting to see it in theatres :csad:

I don't understand what joy they could possibly get out of that.

Why? It's true...there really IS no depth in the movie. You dont get to know any character. Not even Wolverine. Other then a fact he's a sissy boy with a bad temper.

Did you happen to watch X-Men, X-Men United, or X-Men: The Last Stand at all?

We already know Wolverine.

Gambit, Cyclops, Wraith, Agent Zero, Wade Wilson, Emma Frost - these are all secondary characters, or even just cameos. As much as I'd love to see about 70 minutes of Gambit, it's just not warranted.

Sabretooth and Stryker are the real ones that we need to get to know. We already know a bunch about Stryker from X-Men 2, and this movie does a great job of developing Sabretooth.

So uh, yea, I really don't see a problem here.

No matter what reviews say I won't be able to stop myself from seeing this movie.

The problem is we don't know Wolverine before he lost his memory, and Stryker made it clear in X2 he was a different person then...an animal.

And we do know Stryker from X2, but we don't know how Stryker and Wolverine's relationship really formed or what it's based on. And we don't get an understanding of it here.

You do the exact opposite of what they are doing. You are on a crusade to build up this film to make it seem like it is the best thing since life was created. You are the antithesis to them so pointing out their flaws while having your own is pointless. We all know you love this movie to death so spreading that is just as pointless as them spreading filth as you call it. The funny thing is, they have more evidence to the contrary on why they don't like it as opposed to you having no evidence because the leak contained most of the film and most believe all of the film.

Emma Frost's tv spot had more depth in it than in the movie. The rest of the spots gave all the others characters more depth but that should have been in the movie.

Knowing how Stryker is, I'm bound to believe that the whole "animal" thing is more Stryker trying to manipulate Logan to be what he wants him to be.

What's Stryker been rambling on about for 2 movies now about mutants? "They serve their purpose, as long as they can be controlled"

Stryker wants Logan to be an animal, and keeps trying to manipulate him to become an animal.

Do you even realize who you are defending?

Its sad to go around bashing things because you have nothing better to do.

That's what these people - and you at times are doing.

I understand its a longshot to expect any kind of moral attitude from people on message boards, but bashing a workprint whether or not its the finished film - IS WRONG.

Its the equivalent of spitting on the film-makers, of poisoning the hard work they put into the film all because you own a computer.

I really don't get why you back these people up Chaseter, my only conclusion is that you yourself are one of them and lack any character in regards to what's right or simply unfair.

I will pass judgment on Wolverine in 7 days, I will not act like a jackass and crap all over it just because I like ruining people's enthusiasm for the hell of it.

I can accept that, but I still don't accept the grounds for Wolverine and Stryker's relationship. They have nothing between the two of them until all of a sudden they do. The movie completely failed at establishing their relationship IMO. Creed and Stryker feels way more fleshed out.

What, I can't express my opinion? I'm only allowed to say positive things about Wolverine? Sure, the workprint isn't the finished version, but I can guarantee you that it's main problems will still be there in the final cut.

Welcome to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine forum, where many threads have been closed due to unacceptable bickering over the leak.

You wanna bash the film?

Wait 7 days and show some respect to those of us that decided to wait for its OFFICIAL release.

Regards,

Pete

Hey, I haven't ruined the movie for anybody or spoiled anything from the movie; I'm just expressing my opinion. It makes no sense if you can express yours, but I can't.

I don't have an opinion.

Until the film is OFFICIALLY released, nobody is supposed to have one.

*We had about a week of insane spoilerific feedback on the leak here. Don't know if you were present, but at this point we're all just waiting for May to come so we can all jump in with likes and dislikes.

Let's not do that prematurely.

Leave the bashing for a week from today :cwink:

I don't want to sound like an ******* but don't get excited for this film. It SUCKED and that's coming from a huge Wolverine fan. The movie is made for Fox to 'leech' (how ironic) the money from the viewers. Which is why there was major damage control. Trust me, there won't be any extra scenes.

So, when are some reviews of this movie going to start pouring out? I remember TDK had tons of reviews from critics and the like out at least two weeks prior to its opening from private screenings and all that.

Not mention Star Trek has at least 12 reviews from credible sources out there and its out a week later. Its the typical Fox tactic of not letting critics review it until the last possible minute so people arent able to not go to the movie based on the poor reviews.

The fact that Trek already has 12 reviews and they're all positive, while Wolverine likely isn't going to even have a screening for the press, should tell you which studio has more confidence in their product. :o

I honestly don't understand why Tom Rothman can't get this through that 3-inch thick skull of his: If you make a good movie, people will watch it! The top 4 highest grossing movies of all time are over 2.5 hours long, and yet Fox insists that for a movie to make money it can't be longer than 110 minutes. The top grossing movie of last year (The Dark Knight) was light on action and VERY heavy on plot, and yet Fox insists that non-stop action with no character development is the only way to get an audience. When is he going to get A FREAKING CLUE!?

MAKE GOOD MOVIES AND PEOPLE WILL WATCH! It's so simple, and yet Tom Rothman seems to think it's all about this stupid broken formula he has. What Fox movies have actually made money this year, anyway? It's like Fox is dumping their money into a black hole all for Tom Rothman's pride of being able to say that no project at Fox is beyond his control.

Star Trek has had it's premiere already, that's why there are reviews. Wolverine was just finished last week. The premiere will be Monday in Tempe so you'll get the reviews then.

There was a press embargo on reviewing Star Trek but this was waived after the surprise screening in Austin, Tx. The audience for that screening hadn't been asked to sign any agreement and so were not embargoed.

Wolverine has been screening for the press for at least a week. Hugh mentioned a screening in his Rome press conference and there was also a screening in London that week. Jonathan Ross, Edith Bowman and the presenters from Channel 4's T4 on Sunday all said they'd seen it.

Erm. How 'bout no Scott.

I havent given one spoiler, and I can't wait till May first, so I can say something other then "It sucks..."

I want to discuss WHY it sucks. In great spoilerific detail.

And stop arguing semetics with me. I rarely download movies I've never seen. Wolverine needed to get downloaded because Fox is the worst film studio of all time. They needed some revenege.

this movie coulda been sooooo much better had they tweaked Gambit & Deadpool to actually work in the film... but, i'll play along and not "say anything else thats bad" ... and trust me im trying really hard here...
i cant wait till this movie hits theaters so I can REALLY crap on it the way it deserves... unitl then... all I'll say is.. pfffft!! smh... oh and btw im a HUUUUUUUUGE Wolverine fan.. HUGE!!! but this ehhh ummmm "work print"??? trust me all the CGI in the world isnt gonna make this movie "better" huhhhhh again... smh...

My sentiments exactly....

New rules for this thread:

This is the thread for official reviews of the official movie. This means mainstream critics, bloggers, movie sites, etc. Discussion of these reviews are allowed.

We will start a rate & review thread for the official release starting early next week when the international releases start. We will also start a thread to allow everyone who's seen the workprint to compare both versions of the film.

This is not the thread to review the workprint. Nor is it the thread to fight over the workprint.

Let's stop going to war with everyone who didn't like the workprint, and let's stop warning those who haven't seen it just how much they're going to hate it. It has no place in this discussion, and the arguing will not be tolerated.

Thank you.

EXACTLY, Rothman is an idiot, plane and simple, this wont make HALF the money TDK did, or even Transformers for that matter, and both movies were close to 2 and a half hours long AND satisfied the fans and general audience.

Trek had reviews up from the likes of Empire and Total Film 2 weeks ago, well before the premiere. Thats no excuse.

How about you lock this thread until Monday?
