Critics' Reviews: Discussion

I think it was pretty unrealistic that Victor would suddenly turn on his bro after they were the only thing they had together for at least 100 years of fighting. Also the whole beginning with them as children at least needed another 10 or so minutes of background. The whole movie feels like a wasted opportunity. Kind of like all the X-men movies. They have never risen to the epic-grander it should be. They were all hindered by a lack of vision by the creators behind the camera. X2 was the closest we'll ever get to a good x-men movie I think.

I still don't know exactly who's supposed to be who on the Kid Logan sequence. How James and Victor were related? Brothers? Friends? Mama Logan didn't looked maternal at all.

see, that's the thing. If you didn't real the Origin comic you would know exactly what's going on there, but for people of the general audience they will be like...whats going on. That's why I think they should have added at least 10 or more minutes to the beginning

Well...the kid that has claws that come out of his fists...i'm preeeeetty sure that was Wolverine....and i'm preeeeetty sure they said "We're bro's!"

:hehe:

McCabe was hilarious. My favorite post of his was him praising Gavin Hood's knowledge of the military because of the Blob's outfit.

I'm going to miss that and I know his review of the film would have been nothing but legendary.

McCabe would of taken a bullet for this movie....:csad:

Or that Veritas dude could be fake. He flat out says they're not even supposed to talk about the movie but then spills the beans on aicn.com? Wtf?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

Not saying the final version will be different, but yea, dude says he can't talk about it, and then talks about it on a major website?!

He can't talk about the plot I am sure. He just said that it was the same as the leak which doesn't explain anything unless you have seen the leak. There is a reason why Fox won't let anyone talk about this or give official reviews early:o That is more of a tell than him saying he can't talk about it and then spills some info.

Exactly. You nailed it.

Not a review but it has a refreshingly different perspective:
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (PG-13). Honest folks who did not rush to download the illegal version of this comic-book film that somehow found its way to the Internet will now be rewarded: The film kicks off the summer movie season Friday. And not only do we get the bundle of Australian adamantiumu-clawed adorableness of Hugh Jackman as the title character. We also get Taylor Kitsch, aka Tim Riggins of "Friday Night Lights." Tim Riggins! Honestly, who cares if the movie's any good? This lineup is better than a Chippendale revue.

I LOLZ!

Wow...

I could understand if this was April 29th, but seriously, using Star Trek as the ultimate basis on the reflecting hopes and faith that FOX has of Wolverine is just pessimistic FOX bashing 101. It's not worth getting worked up for every.single.thing. In fact, it's actually very rare that a movie would be screened as early as Star Trek did, so, it's just not worth getting upset over, guys.

If I were FOX, after that huge leak in April, the last thing I would be thinking about is having a bunch of press screenings.

Personally, I would start worrying about the lack of early reviews by next Tuesday at the earliest.

I wasnt getting worked and its not bashing Fox 101, its something they do with their movies, I have observed them closely for 10 years now and when they have little confidence (or seem to) in a movie, they delay the press reviews until the very last minute. Plenty of other movies other than Star Trek in the past have been reviewed this early.

You call this a "full story"? An abridged version of Veritas post?

Don't forget the ad for Wolverine merchandise at Hot Topic that was flashing right next to the article when I read it.

Just you wait, Wolverine will be huge

I've been offered illegal DVDs, and had an illegal download posted to me (I watched neither) so I was very happy to see the real thing.

Of course, I mean Hugh Jackman's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Even though a security guard had to sit next to me during the screening.

In between the usual blockbuster blather, there are fantastic action sequences most of them featuring Jackman and Liev Schreiber.

There's a cool surprise towards the end which I mustn't give away. It opens on April 29 and it will be huge, whatever the critics say.

"I loved it and it will be great no matter what the critics say!"

I was reading the comments on Facebook, and the reaction is mostly: they can't wait to see it, or they've seen it and thought it was the best of the 4.

There are a few gripes, of course...but the reaction was mostly positive. And I've been reading comments on there for the last few weeks.

I guess we'll see how it goes...
