I heard he finally snapped shortly after that report came out that someone who saw the final film said it was in fact scene for scene with the leaked version. Started calling people morons who didn't like the movie.

I just hate it when Mods delete the evidence, would have been nice to see, mainly as evidence of what you can or can't say. Mainly because infractions differ from Mod to Mod and I've been given an infraction or two that I know I wouldn't have gotten in other boards on the Hype from different Mods. They should make it universal and not up to the different sensitivites of each individual Mod.

Well that is just ridiculous behaviour, I appreciate he was excited and all that, but calling people morons for having a different opinion is silly.

Agreed.

As opposed to "I hate it no matter what"
A critic saying the movie was great no matter what the reviews say while giving a review is an oxymoron. It would be like someone talking about how the movie sucked and saying that it will suck no matter what the reviews say...that is pointless.

If you actually read it the reviewer says it is going to be HUGE no matter what the critics say.

You're so hell bent on talking about how crap the movie is it's stopping you from actually seeing straight :D

I was reading the comments on Facebook, and the reaction is mostly: they can't wait to see it, or they've seen it and thought it was the best of the 4.

There are a few gripes, of course...but the reaction was mostly positive. And I've been reading comments on there for the last few weeks.

I guess we'll see how it goes...

Can fans and the general public really be so far apart?

^ I really really think yes.

I am not a fangirl in any way and I liked the movie, and I've had the same exact experience as Danoyse, everyone I've talked to who's seen the work print that's not a fanboy likes it or loves it and will all see it again in the theaters, or they haven't seen it and refuse to see the work print and will see it opening day. If you look at reviews of the work prints outside of this forum and at regular movie sites and blogs, the general reaction is very good.

I think it'll be better than X3, not quite up to X2 or X1 levels. But overall I think this movie is definitely an upgrade compared to X3.

I'm still torn on whether I rank this or X3 higher. I'm very curious to see how the critics will respond.

Me too, for me X3 was just not good, I walked out very unhappy and I'm a sorta gen audience person I would say, but it still managed 56% or whatever it was on RT. So I suspect that Wolverine will at least be over 60%, and I truly believe that people will like it more than fanboys here do. I personally rank it around X1 level, but X2 is still far far far superior.

I liked X3, but I thought that Wolverine was a piece of crap. I think that pre-knowledge of the X-Men mythos played heavily into why X3 wasn't well-received by fanboys, but I think the movie itself is much better than many give it credit for (and again, I'll remind you that I am by no means well versed in X-Men's comic mythology). However, Wolverine is just plain a downright mediocre film at best, and a soulless piece of cinematic trash at worst. I cannot vouch for how accurate Wolverine is, but as a film it was noticeably inferior to X-Men 3, and not even comparable to X-Men 2.

I think the fact that I don't read the X-Men comics makes my opinion fairly unbiased, but I won't presume it is, so we'll have to see what the critics say about it. Unless standards have gotten significantly lower since 2006 though, I expect that Wolverine will rate in the low 40s at best on the Tomatometer (although personally, I think mid 30's is more likely). It's an empty shadow of what made the trilogy good.

Really? Everything you said about Wolverine is pretty much what I felt about X3 and vice versa, lol. To all his/her own I guess, and I have no knowledge really of the X-Universe AT ALL. I personally thought it had a story, a good engaging one, I felt emotionally invested in the character and all that. Everyone is entitled to love/hate/like/bash whatever they want to a movie, I personally enjoyed it very very much and I'm sticking to that.

I don't care if it will be huge or not. It is a mediocre movie. That person pretty much said it was awesome no matter what the reviews say. He was excited to see it and he really liked it and his review was short and hyper. He also said that it was basically a summer popcorn movie which is great if you love that. No one is debating if it will do good at the box office:o It doing great at the box office has nothing to do with the quality.

This will probably be like X3. Mixed critic response, mixed fan response, but enjoyed by the general public (for the most part).

That's because critics and fanboys take things too seriously, whereas the general public just want to be entertained.

Damn you fanboys for wanting better movies:cmad:

I refuse to watch general public favorites like Norbit, Paul Blart, Larry the Cable Guy Whatever Inspector, _______ Movie(s). The general public eats those up:o

I'd rather take things too seriously then. I have never been the type to enjoy movies the general public enjoys and films with Larry the Cable Guy make me happy about that.

The general public don't just like crappy comedies. You think there's enough fanboys to make The Dark Knight gross $1 billion?

It is disheartening when movies like Paul Blart or Zohan makes millions and great movies like Pan's Labyrinth, Oldboy, etc... make fractions of that.

Do you think the general audience sees that movie 3, 4, or 5 times or more?
