Critics' Reviews: Discussion

Three things i REALLY didn't like about this movie:

How does Wolverine get air sick when he's immune to ALL forms of illness and sicknesses....?

The fact that memory implantation wasn't a part of Wolverines past, and memories.

The fact that an adamantium bullet can pierce his skull. How the hell can adamantium pierce adamantium? By that logic, adamantium should be able to cut through adamantium, and in X2 his fight with Deathstrike;they should have broken each other's claws.

To be fair a adamantium bullet fired from a Magnum about a foot away from his head is different than whatever happened in the Deathstrike fight.

It all depends on the force applied. And the force from a Magnum? That is a lot of force let me tell ya. Just ask Dirty Harry. :D

Diamond can pierce diamond if enough force is applied. Titanium can pierce titanium if enough force is applied. So adamantium can pierce adamantium if enough force is applied. Makes sense to me.

Because:
1: Air sickness is simply nausea caused by a distortion in your perception of gravity and motion. Theres nothing wrong with your body for it to heal, it's just unused to the new surroundings.

2:Yes it was. Especially the part with Silver Fox which was lifted straight from the source material.

3:Two materials of equal hardness can cut each other. Diamond, the hardest known substance, can only be cut by other diamonds.

Well, so far it's 5 for 5 over at Rotten Tomatoes. 100%. I wonder how long that will last and I wonder if it will stay fresh.

I think it will stay fresh. But na, it won't stay 100% past today I don't reckon.

Honestly, I expect general reaction is going to be very good. Everyone I talk to that has seen the real version of this movie has liked it and even loved it. These "common folk" reports are all over the net. People are starting to understand the whiners that are certain fanboys and are filtering out all the BS.

I know a few people who saw it yesterday who really enjoyed it. Others said it had so much action in it that it'll please the crowd it's intended for though I'm sure comic-book purists who think they're entitle to full control may be pissed off at certain things.

Well, of course not, it would be great if it stayed in the 70-80's area...but I think it will be slightly above 60% and be certified fresh.

Yea, what is the limit of fresh to rotten? I predict it will be in the 70s.

1)But nausea- is a 'symptom' of an abnormal change occurring in the body, ala morning sickness in pregnant women. Generally they are fine, but there are hormonal changes going on inside the body , that's it's not accustomed to, that 'causes it. With air sickness, the brain's conclusion that one of the senses is hallucinating due to 'poison ingestion'; the brain then induces vomiting to clear the supposed toxin from the body. If Wolverine is immune to ALL toxins then he shouldn't be feeling this at all.

3)But adamantium IS indestructible. Diamond is NOT indestructible.

I know it's a fictional alloy, but still, it kinda pissed me off. It was kinda used like Wolverine was a Werewolf and the only thing that could stop him was a silver bullet.. :whatever:

Things that bothered me:

1. The old couple who took in Logan (the Hudsons?) seemed nothing more than a contrivance for him to get his motorbike and leather jacket

2. How did Stryker's cells hold Emma Frost, with her diamond skin, and Cyclops, with his eye blasts? Were they adamantium cages? After Cyke was set free, he soon liifted his bandages and used his blasts. Were his blasts at this stage too powerful to be used more precisely to escape the cells?

3. The way Monaghan's character Bolt, who has the power to operate electrical and electronic equipment, was killed. He posed no threat, his powers weren't taken. We find out later that Stryker is manipulating a chain of events to get Wolverine to have the adamantium procedure but Bolt's death seemed kinda random. There was no earlier hint of any sinister goings-on from Stryker.

4. I'd have liked to see more explanation of how Wolverine thought Kayla was dead. A few more lines when he sees her later, like 'But I buried you, there was a funeral service, the kids at your school mourned you' and then Stryker adding 'All that was arranged Logan, all put in place especially for you. And it obviously worked.'

5. I'd have liked the mythology of Wolverine's name, from a legend recounted by Kayla, to be made more organic rather than mentioned in one brief scene. There seemed no context for her telling him that myth, indeed no hint that she was of native American background.

Things that didn't bother me:

1. The whole Weapon X1/Barakapool thing

2. The adamantium bullet

3. Emma Frost being Kayla's sister (done for motivational reasons, when Kayla asks Wolverine to free the other captives)

He's not immune to them, he just recovers from them much faster than normal.

Nothing is truly indestructible, just really, really durable. if you have a cutting tool of at least equal hardness and enough force, you can cut anything. However, if we accept adamatium as being much tougher than anything else on earth, the force needed to drive adamantium through adamatium would be incredible; 50 cal at least IMO.

Well, that will be hard for you to put in context. After all, you loathe X3 and I don't mind it. So how will my opinion help you?

It wouldnt help me, I am just curious to see were you place it amoung the others.

Yes, BUT,
that was his last mission, and they made it clear that
Wolverine
got airsick on every one of 'em!!!

Yeah man,
those cages
were stupid. How the heck was he supposed to keep mutants at bay with
chicken wire
?

No I mean first airborne insertion with team X. That's why they are winding him up about it.

And what part was Korea? I thought all the jungle stuff was 'Nam?

OH GREAT! Some muddafugga just spoiled Emma's "surprise" at the IMDb credits listing.

What surprise could that possibly be?? We already knew from the trailers she was in the film not to mention they show/spoil the one scene she uses her powers.
