Notice there isn't a forum to discuss this upcoming Netflix-released film, either in terms of its content or its potential as a game-changer in the way movies are marketed and distributed.

As eager as I am to see this movie for its own merits, I am actually more interested to see how this changes the film business in general. It's almost guaranteed to make money, due to the Asian market if nothing else, so this could be a major coup for Netflix.

I'll definitely check it out. It's been ages since I've seen a good martial arts flick

Wow not sure about this a good decade and a half after the first one which was great.

Plus Ang Lee isn't returning.

It would be interesting just to compare the two. Green Legend is based on the last in a series of books, of which the fourth one was the basis of Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger.

Green Legend will be directed by Yuen Woo Ping, who is mainly known in America as being the fight choreographer for the first Crouching Tiger and the Matrix. Basically he's the king of wire-fight choreography.

So will it be in straight up Chinese or a mix of English?

I assume it will be in the same language as the first one (Mandarin with English subtitles) unless they have Christian Bale show up for some reason.

Or Nicholas Cage as the White Ghost.

Nicholas Cage will deliver his dialogue in Mandarin. He doesn't know the language, but he will make sounds that are roughly the same, and it will be glorious.

Trailer - 1

I assume the anachronistic stuff in the trailer (EDM, English dialogue) is just for marketing purposes for anybody who hasn't seen the first film.

I presume so but people are stupid nowadays so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't to be honest.

I'll check the movie out but why Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon needed a sequel I'll never know.

A bit jarring for the movie to be in English is my impression after the trailer. Don't think Crouching Tiger needed a sequel as well -- was a perfectly self-contained story. I'll catch this though for Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen.

Man if i had a dollar for every backflip in that trailer. :o

Good trailer tho.

I wasn't okay with this when it was announced and now I'm even less okay with it now that I've seen the trailer. It looks like a generic action film now without any of the sophistication and elegance of the original.

That could just be the trailer though. I mean, Yuen Woo Ping is doing it and it is somewhat adapted from the source material that the original film was based on (though Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was apparently very loosely based) so who knows, I could be wrong and jumping the gun here.

Seriously, if the film is only in English, dubbed or not, they might as well have put Nic Cage in it.

The trailer looked rather horrid. Disappointing to say the least.
