Seeing as there is an Atheist thread and a Jesus thread, I think it's only fair to dedicate a thread to everyone's favorite High Priest to the Elder Gods. This is not intended to be a debate thread, but instead a Cthulhu worship thread. So feel free to join in and praise him!

"That is not dead which can eternal lie. Yet with strange aeons even death may die."

Read "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P Lovecraft

I disagree with Cthulhu's stance on gay marriage.

I always thought the people Lovecraft influenced (Campbell, Ligotti, Howard, Smith, Gavin) and those who influenced him (Blackwood, Hodgson, Machen, Chambers, maybe Wells) are a lot better than he is, but without him, they might not be as famous as he is. Curious.

Honestly, why can't they get Del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness started up? I'd like to see a little bit of Cthulhu on the big screen.

All hail the mighty C'thulu plushie.

That's one way of looking at it.

It all comes down to money. But the last I heard Del Toro is going to give it one more shot and try to get the ball rolling. Hopefully one day we'll see At the Mountains of Madness on the big-screen.

Also, thanks for the plushie Teelie. Cthulhu appreciates images of himself.

I'll have to check those out or face the wrath of Cthulhu.

Best. Response thread. Ever.

Thanks. With false religions like Christianity getting in everyone's face, I felt that it was time to remind everyone that one day the Old Ones will return and vanquish us all.

Speaking of getting in peoples face...

Also, remember to vote.

What made Cthulu a meme suddenly over the last few years. I read a lot of Lovecraft 7 years ago in high school, but after it seemed like I suddenly was seeing Cthulu Plushies and bumper stickers, and then the memes began.
Apparently there is a CoC silent film from 2005 as well.

Oh, and all hail Cthulu.

I don't know why he's gotten so massive over the years (beyond the standard mind rape and cults) but he's not even one of the big guns of the Elder gods. He is pretty awesome though. He's even fought the Ghostbusters once.

Here's some HP Lovecraft Cthulhu Ambiance. Music from the 1920's mixed with Trent Reznor's Quake soundtrack. I feel this captures the mood of Lovecraft, give it a listen and dream of R'lyeh.

Beyond The Shores Of Sleep from "The Nameless Festival"

He was on South Park fairly recently too, so I'm sure that boosted Cthulu-awareness.

He's probably more well-known because his name is the more pronounceable of the Gods' and you can say fun things like Cthuloops.

Has anybody here ever played Arkham Horror?

The best board game in history, IMO.

The Collect Call of Cthulu (although the misspell it and pronounce it Ca-too-loo) is one of my favorite Real Ghostbusters episodes. I have the whole box set :D

The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy also had the "Prank Call of C'thulu" episode although I forget the details.
