Transformers Cullen/Welker or Chalk/Kaye?

No, the problem for me lies in the choice of Optimus. I grew up watching Beast Wars and all the Transformers that came after it, so he was my prime for a while. However, in light of the movie coming out, I have started watching more G1, and really enjoy Cullen's voice.

Chalk: Was like the battle-ready father, one who commands respect by leading you into battle and saving yer robotic ass.

Cullen: Like a wise Grandfather/Uncle figure, one who you respected not because of his actions, but because of his honest words. You actually felt for the Transformers when he died.

Nothing makes me happier than some Vintage Optimus Prime voisage, but this whole time, in fact, ever since I bought the S1 Box set of TF, I have longed for Kaye's Megatron!

If you compare the two together: Cullen/Welker vs. Chalk/Kaye, I may have to legitimately go with Chalk/Kaye. They bring so much voice ACTING to their interpretations. Also, they don't necessarily deviate from the original Cullen/Welker intentions, but they may in fact build upon those intentions and create something better.

The choice of Cullen doesn't make me sad in the least bit, but the choice of Kaye would definitely make me happy!

I don't really care if Cullen's voice has changed with age. He'll still be a great Prime. I'd vote for Cullen as Prime and Chalk as Ironhide. But if Welker can't do Megatron Gary Chalk could. He did once on Beast Wars.

Much as I loved the Commander and Starscream... I don't think that would have translated well to live-action.

A better thing to think about- food for thought- is Tobey Maguire playing Bumblebee. Anyone see the irony in that? I think it'd have been cool (if BB had a voice in the movie).

Still Chris Latta was a lot of TF's. Starscream, Wheeljack (which I suspect was his real voice), Defensor, Reflector, Skullcruncher, and Sparkplug Witwicky.

And a few JOE's. Cobra Commander and Gung-ho.

He also did a guest spot on Seinfeld.

Given the fact that Peter Cullen is playing the Live Action Optimus, I think the point pretty moot to guess who's going to be doing his voice.

P.S. I think David Kaye should be saved for the comic style Shockwave. You can't tell me the thought of Welker's Megatron vs. Kaye's Shockwave isn't hella cool.
