HELP!

I'm a fan of the animted version of Brainaic from the Dini/Timm Superman cartoon from the 90s.

I was slightly dissapointed that the poor guy has been used off and on throughout the years. And I'm dissaponted that the animated version differs from the numerous comic incarnations.

Since the events of Infinite Crisis, what's the status of Brainiac? And I'm wondering if there's any rumors that Brainaic will be closer to his cartoon counter-part. I've heard that Toyman now in the comics is more like the one from the Dini/Timm vision.

thanks

What's funny is that every single time I read a animated brainiac story in the comics I hear corey Burton in the mean time and I find it great.
But yeah , it seems to me Brainiac is a real poor guy in the comics. I like his few but effective appearance in the cartoon. I see him as really dangerous.
oh well ...

Brainiac 13 kicks S:TAS Brainiac in the nuts. Or at least he did before being retconned out of existance (which still makes no sense, BTW).

I think the cartoon was good in getting forward very effectivly the personalities of the characters, and showing how bad they could be (Like Brainiac or Darkseid) without having to have them in every episode and without making them always seem to fail.

Corey Burton is the voice I hear when I read Brainiac (or a robot character) in a comic, and I imagin the animated Darkseid's voice when i read Darkseid in a comic. same this with Batman and Superman and the Flash.

I don't know where Brainiac is right now. I hope they don't make him more like the animated version. The animated version to me has always been the Eradicator with a lil' itty-bit of Brainiac added to the character. Smallville is also going on a similar route. I dislike both, but what can you do when people grow up watching TV and not reading the comics, meh.:(

Indeed. :( :down

They should really just combine the versions and make Brainiac a machine telepath or something. That'd be pretty cool. Coluan super-genius with Fine's amplified telepathy working on both organic and mechanical stuff, plus the super-powered android body of Brainiac-13. Make Brainiac a real force to be reckoned with.

I've often thought about the possibilty of combining them as well. Take the 90's verson with telepathy that'd make Manchester Black cry and somehow graft it all into B-13 where he'd have unrivaled control over machines and a body that Superman couldn't even dent.

The Cyborg?:confused::D

Also give him the badass purple cape and incredibly villainous beard and moustache of the Milton Fine incarnation. I'm not sure how those would fit into this hypothetical ultimate form of Brainiac that we're dreaming up, but they're too awesome to leave out.:up:

If the Junkions and Unicron taught us anything, it's that techno-beards are awesome.

I seem to remeber in Teen Titans or Outsiders when they did the Superboy goes Luthor arc that Brainiac was talking about going fully robotic, ala Pre-Crisis. I'm suprised we haven't seen him in a big comeback yet, 52 would be the perfect place for him to start taking names.

Well, there is supposed to be a big threat to the DCU that has yet to be revealed. Could be Brainiac.

Plus that in that Wizard quiz about One Year Later, there was a ? about someone who would destroy an entire country, killing millions. Black Adam, Sinestro, Vandal Savage, and our boy. I hope it is Brainiac.

He hasn't been seen since Starfire wasted his spaceship during "The Insiders" , although he did have a cameo of sorts during "Sacrifice" . It sucks, I love Brainiac and will just have to get my fill with "Justice" until they bring him back to the DCU proper.

BTW, I love TAS Brainiac, his voice is great. I always thought that he was very underrated on that show because he could be the villain that cuts to Superman's soul. Superman thought that he was the last son of Krypton, and then all of a sudden a humanoid robot from his homeworld comes along with all the info Supes could ever want about Krypton or his family and they wind up being enemies. I always thought that should have really hurt Superman, he would want him and Brainiac to be very close and instead he is one of his greatest foes. I wished they would have touched on that in the series.
