CD Projeckt Red Cyberpunk 2077

Same here. i heard the rumor months ago that it is a FPS and i was praying it wasn't true. This is the most painful news out of E3 that ive heard. was so hyped.

It will most like still be a great game but FPS are not my thing. I will just watch playthroughs

If you check reddit, at least a 3rd of the posters had their hype absolutely tanked with this news.

Cyberpunk being FPS is rather sad. I have a friend with severe motion sickness who can't play FPS games and he was stoked for the game.

It won't hurt my personal experience, but I'm still a bit disappointed.

Yeah, the FPS news is definitely disappointing to me, it's not necessarily a deal breaker, but it does kill a lot of my hype for it, I could probably count the number of FPS's I've truly loved on one hand, I just don't care for the perspective more often than not.

IGN impressions:

-CD Projekt describes the game as a "first-person RPG."
-Gameplay is in first a first-person perspective, but switched to third-person during a cutscene.
-You play a character named V (as in the letter).
-V can be a man or a woman.
-The stats you pick at the start include Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech, and Cool.
-These stats are all pulled from the original tabletop RPG.
-There are no classes at the start. Instead, you evolve the class you want to be as you play instead of picking a role.
-You can drive cars in the game, and seemingly toggle between first and third person during this.
-While driving in first-person, the U.I. appears diegetically on the windshield.
-You can engage in combat while driving -- AI took over steering as you lean out the window and shoot at enemies.
-CD Projekt also described Cyberpunk as a "mature experience intended for mature audiences."
-The goal is for you to not only engage with the game world, but with its inhabitants.
-Like Witcher, you take missions from NPCs and have dialogue options in conversations.
-It's an open world that you open up more with "street cred." For example, a specific jacket might raise it by 5%, allowing you access to new places.
-Completing a quest levels up your street cred.
-The UI in the demo is extremely minimal at -- just a light compass and a small quest log.
-UI expands during combat -- enemies have names, health bars, and what appear to be levels.
-Some enemies have question marks instead of levels, possibly meaning they're much higher level than you.
-Damage numbers pop up during combat.
-There's a bullet-time-like ability that allows you to slow down time.
-CD Projekt keeps emphasizing that choices have consequences, in the moment and to the world at large.
-Obstacles have several solutions depending on your skills. For example, V got to a door, but his hacking skill was too low. However, his engineering skill was high enough, so he could open a panel and bypass the door.
-There's an inspection system lets you look super close at items and learn more about lore.
-You use an inhaler to heal.
-Gunplay feels slower than Doom or Borderlands, but faster than Fallout 4.
-CD Projekt showed off some late-game abilities, including mantis-like blade arms and wall running.
-We saw a boss fight against a dude in an exoskeleton. This included sliding under cars and taking cover.

Sounds damn intriguing. Can't wait to see the gameplay.

i understand CD project red going for first person . they wanted to do something very different to what they have done before.

what makes it worse for me is that some parts are in 3rd person. wish they would make it like fallout where you can switch between the two at will

I’m absolutely fine with a first person game, I prefer Over The Shoulder(not 3rd person).
Still fine with me. I tend not to focus on any cosmetic items in a First person game, and in third sometimes I get finicky over appearance.

Since there will be plenty of dialogue, you will be seeing your character a lot. Not to mention, in the menu.

I always find First Person in games to be awkward. I like 3rd person better for RPGs, especially one that allows me to create my own character (if I have to spend time creating my own character I want to see my hard work in action as much as possible).

Yes because there's nothing I like more than having to pause the game and enter the menu so that I can see my character. :o

There has been a lot of backlash over this. To the point that they didn't like being called an FPS. I honestly don't know how to feel about this. I trust them, but... yeah.

Not to mention, armor and weapon variety and kitting out a character is a big part of modern RPG's. In 1st person most of that isnt visible.

Maybe there is still time for CDPR to change this or add a way to switch between 1st snd 3rd person. I'd be fine with them delaying the game another year if that's what it took to add a 3rd person perspective to the game.

There's also tattoo options as well. I guess you can place the tat on ur hand or wrist, so you can see them while shooting a gun in FPS view :whatever:

Still, I like it.
Human Revolution is one my favorite games of all time, so I'm game. I trust CDPR that they will use it to the game's advantage.

As for this controversy, I don't know if it will hurt sales or reputation of the game, maybe it's vocal minority, but I believe many people will shut up once they see gameplay.

This went from a game I knew nothing about except for the teaser 100 years ago, to something I'm planning to get due to the cyberpunk influences after watching Altered Carbon, to possibly off my radar now with the FPS perspective news drop.
yeah I read most of theis and saw it on you tube via news out lets. it seem the went the old route withthe original version of deus Ex before revolutions came about. that series was originally a first person shotter view with some melee in it

they may have also done this to set it apart from the witcher also to show they can do different genre's most True good developer's want to show how talented they are and not be known for just one type of style of game making/ play.

So while this may dissapoint some people all they are showing is they want to be known for making just one type of style of gaming making/ game play even if it's still in RPG space game play wise ,it's still a different style of game play.

thogh the FPS genre is crowded. so it might not have been a good move,at all. I hoping they making a mix of Rpg third person action which allow's you the option First person mode like the Fallout series did/ statred out with.

it'sll be unque then still.

oh before I for get.

Become a cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk-2077_06-12-18.jpg

CD Projekt RED has shared first information and screenshots of Cyberpunk 2077, which saw its first trailer debut earlier this week at Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference.

Get the details below.
? The Role-Playing Game of the Dark Future
About the Game
In 2077, America is in pieces. Megacorps control life in all its aspects from the top floors of their sky-high fortresses. Down below, drug-pushing gangs, dirty-tech hustlers, and slingers of illicit braindances run the streets. The world in between is where decadence, sex, and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty, and the unattainable promise of the American Dream.
In a world where you have no future, what matters is that you control who you are. To survive and protect your independence, you modify your body with advanced cyberware and take jobs others would never dare. You choose to live free, bound by no systems or controls—the only rules you obey are your own. Because you’re a Cyberpunk.
In Cyberpunk 2077 you play as V—a hired gun on the rise and you just got your first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners, and corporate lifehackers, today you take your first step towards becoming an urban legend.
? Become a street mercenary of the future…
Create a hero able to survive in America’s most dangerous megacity.

  • Create Your Own Cyberpunk Your name is V, and you can be anyone you want to be. Cyberpunk 2077 will feature full character customization, with gender, appearance, and personal background all affecting the shape of your game. As you progress. you’ll develop skills in urban warfare and network hacking, as well as modify your body with cyberware like infra-red eyes or neural reflex boosters.
  • Fluid Class System – Become a Netrunner. Techie or Solo.. or a mix of all three. Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t impose any player roles and allows all available classes.
  • See Night City Through Your Eyes – Cyberpunk 2077 brings first-person perspective back to the role-playing genre. Deep narrative immersion is a key design priority, and you’ll experience the story of the game’s protagonist entirely through their eyes.
  • Interactive Dialogue Control – You’re a participant, an agent, not an observer. Cyberpunk 2077 features an interactive dialogue system that gives players maximum control during conversations—comment on an uncooperative character’s tattoo to please them, or end a conversation early with a well-placed bullet. The choice is always yours.
  • Game Noir – With its mature approach to storytelling, Cyberpunk 2077 adopts elements of noir cinema and inserts them into the future of video games. Without a clear definition of what’s good or evil, in Cyberpunk 2077 you’ll make hard choices to define yourself in a city that wants to bring you to your knees.
? …and enter the most decadent megacity…
Night City is a playground for dreamers, an urbarn jungle that offers luxury excess… or a bullet to the brain if you mess with the corporations.

  • Go Anywhere, Do Anything – Cyberpunk 2077 is fully open-world, which means Night City is yours for the taking – if you’re prepared. With 6 distinct districts to explore, hundreds of buildings and thousands rooms to enter, and dozens of miles of roads to hit, there are always places to be and things to do.
  • You’re Worth What You Have – The world of cyberpunks is all about your gear. Wear designer clothes, buy (or steal) cars, and acquire black market military tech to help you during your missions. Then use blood money to invest in properties all around the city.
  • Jack In, Run the Net – Night City is fully connected and offers countless cyberspace access terminals. As you explore the Net, you’ll discover layers of hidden systems, firewalls, and security programs deployed to fry your brain. During missions, you’ll clash with hostile netrunners defending corporate megabuildings—both in cyberspace and in the real world.
? …to uncover it’s dirtiest secrets.
Story-driven and action-packed, Cyberpunk 2077‘s cinematic plot was written to provide a rich and robust single-player experience. Offering dozens of hours of main arc quests and lots of additional activities like side quests and Street Stories, the game is a good fit for both hardcore completionists and gamers who like to focus on instant action. Featuring CD Projekt RED’s trademark storytelling system driven by choice and consequence, in Cyberpunk 2077 players navigate the streets of Night City along strongly contrasting paths to arrive at one of a range of story outcomes.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Crazy how much controversy the first person issue is generating online.

i am kinda surprised there are so many disappointed people. I though i was in the minority of people who dont play first person games.

We all know this game is going to be great. wish i was one of the many excited people

I'm a little disappointed, but I'm still very much looking forward to it. It's tied with The Last of Us Part II as my most anticipated game in years.

Funny thing is that CDPR NEVER promised third-person mode. But for some reason people already have decided what the game is gonna be.

I understand where it comes from, but it's getting silly.

I expected it. I loved The Witcher 3. It’s one of the best video games I ever played, but they shouldn’t have to create the same game with a futuristic skin.

I'm happy with the FPP choice. The original Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are among the best I've played in the FPP/RPG hybrids so hopefully I'll add this one to the list as well.

I don't love FPP, nor I hate it. If it's the most fitting choice, then it's all that matters. In the list of my most beloved games there are isometric, side-scrolling, TPP and FPP. Each one of them had it for a reason and didn't take away from respective experiences.

I always liked isometric. Those good folks at Obsidian have been killing it lately with their in-house RPGs in that perspective.
