I know this is off topic. But to have caught all those headlines, you must have seen the film a good few times already.
Actually, I've only seen it twice. I'm just really good for spotting little details in movies. Always have been. Plus, alot of the headlines were right in plain sight. The camera was deliberately angled so we saw the Ock headline when Jameson was at his desk, and when Robbie was standing by Jonah's desk, they had it angled so we saw the Green Goblin one.
So perhaps you could help me. I would really really appreciate it if anyone could answer these questions for me:
I'll do my best..
1) How did Brock know about Sandman's Daughter being ill? Peter didn't know this, it's not like the Symbiote told Eddie.
Absolutely no idea. I don't even know how Brock knew Sandman was alive. He was thought to be dead after Symbiote Spidey washed him away in the tunnel.
2) What the heck happened to Sandman at the end of the movie? After seeing the movie for the second time and realising he didn't just disperse his particles across the city (effectively killing himself) I thought there should be a scene showing him giving himself up to the police or something. But no. He just flies away? Is that right? Or am I missing something here!?
No, you're correct. He made peace with Peter over Ben's death, and then he just flew off. No resolution over the daughter storyline, which was disappointing for me.
I really liked Sandman. I felt sorry for him. I was glad Peter forgave him, but the daughter plot was never resolved. Very disappointing.
3) When the Symbiote first crawls over Peter while he's sleeping. Peter is still wearing his red and blue costume. The Sybmiote covers him, becoming the black costume. Peter soon removes the black costume and places it in a trunk. Fine.
But how does he still have the red and blue costume after this? The Symbiote covered it. Becoming the black costume!!
Or are we to believe that when he got home that night. He took of his new black costume and there was his red and blue one still underneath?
Peter had two costumes. Remember when he went to his wardrobe after hearing about another Sandman attack on the police scanner, and had the red and blues hanging on a hangar, and then he looked down at the trunk where he had put the black costume.
So, I'm assuming he had two Spidey costumes in this one.
4) How do Venom and Sandman find eachother anyway? Sandman was waiting there for Spidey. Venom was looking for Sandman. And out of all the alleyways in New York. They manage to bump into eachother? I mean, how did this happen? Was this completely random? Or did I miss something!? Was there something relevant about that particular location?
It was just randomness. Venom is swinging along, Sandman thinks he's Spider-Man and attacks him. They team up.
I hated this scene. Felt so unnatural and out of place. And Brock's voice was horrible.
5) When Harry sees Norman in the mirror, why did they re-use the Goblin's line from the first film, when the mask says "First we attack his heart!". It's not just the same words. It's the actual line, recorded from the first film.
I don't understand it. Willem Dafoe was there. He could have re-delivered this line. But instead they cut to Harry's face and just take it from the first movie.
I guess it was to show that Harry was turning into his father's Goblin. Hurt Peter emotionally and then finish him off.
6) Bernard knew about how Norman dies the whole time? Fair enough he didn't tell Harry at first, because then he'd have to explain that Norman had been the Goblin. But surely after the events of the second film, once Harry discovered this himself. Wouldn't this have been the perfect time for Bernard to tell the guy!? Instead of watching him develop the new suit, glider, Goblin formula, and believing that Peter was to blame?
Oh man, don't get me started on the butler plot. He claims that he loved Harry, yet he let him sink into booze, depression, and murderous obsession.
It was a ridiculous and cheap plot convienence to get Harry to wake up to himself and do what's right. Hated it. Cheap cop out, IMO.
7) How could this have happened!? Spider-man 2 was pure magic. Raimi was still at the helm. Same cast. How could things have gone so wrong?
I enjoyed SM-3. It wasn't anywhere near as good as Spider-Man 2, or even Spider-Man 1, for that matter. But, it was still a good movie. It just had way too many plots to handle, and lost it's balance.
I don't blame Raimi for alot of the movie's shortcomings. I blame Avi Arad. He dumped Venom and the symbiote story on him. Sam did the best he could with the cards he was dealt.
