Which Comics Are They Looking At?

Each movie obviously was inspired by a comic, or comics. The first two IMO contained

Spider-Man 1-

Amazing Fantasy issue 15. The origin of Spidey was covered.

Amazing Spider-Man 122. The death of Gwen, death of Norman. As in the climax of the film.

Amazing Spider-Man 39. Spider-Man and the Green Goblin find out who eachother are. And Gobby does that metal cable thing on Spidey for the first time, as he does in the movie. We also find out about the Goblin's origin. So they very much used this one.

I'm sure I could find a few others like the first Bugle issue with JJJ, but you guys get the point.


Spider-Man 2

Amazing Spider-Man 3. Due.

Whatever issue MJ finds out Peter is Spider-Man. Help anyone? Amazing 275-290?

For me Amazing Spider-Man 11 and 427 comes to mind. Why? It's a huge Doc Ock vs Spidey battle royal.

These two need no intro.

This is an interesting idea for a thread... It'd be even cooler if we can get some scene by scene comparasons going on... Like compare a panel to a still from one of the three films. Anyway, just an idea, something I would like to see, and might get around to working on when i get the time...

those are a couple of my favorite issues!!! and I'm really happy they are basing spidey3 off of these issues instead of making everything up from scratch.

Don't know if their gonna use it in the movie but the first time the Symbiote attacks Peter is in Web of Spider-Man #18. Peter is waiting at the train station and it pushes him onto the tracks. Peter's scared $hit!e$$, because his spider sense didn't go off.

I'd call Secret Wars # 8 the origin of how he got the alien costume instead of 1st appearance.
ASM # 252 1st Alien costume, because it came out befor SW #8
SSM # 90 Crossover with Amazing Spider-Man 252

Brock gets it I believe in ASM # 289 which has a cameo of Venom, but Web of Spider-Man # 18 is now listed as 1st Venom in shadows in Wizard. I don't see him though also its not attached to Brock it took place almost 2 years earlier.

I was just replying to DACMAN's post about that issue. Also wanted to make the point that ASM#252 is the real 1st appearance because it came out first. But its still relevant in that it shows it came from another planet.

Yeah ASM #252 MAY 1984 & SW#8 DEC 1984, so again I'd just call that an origin story. It's not like the suit in 252 isn't the symbiote we just didn't know the origin of it.

I just finished reading my extensive collection of every comic featuring the living black suit and the Venom stories up til the lat 90's. My conclusion based on the known 'facts' of SM3 is the black suit and Venom are not taken from the comics but seems rather more influenced by the '90s cartoon...

A) Brock is a photographer who is always one-up'd by Spidey/Parker @ The Bugle.
B) shuttle origin for the symbiote, by pilot Jameson
C) Dr. Conners discovers the nature of the suit, not Mr. Fantastic.
D) The symbiote enhances all of Spider-man's powers

Also a little bit of the Ultimate Spidey universe is used again, since Brock's age is contemporary with Parker, Brock gets rejected by Gwen Stacy, and as Venom, seems to be more focused on "Parker" than the "Spider-Man" persona.

Thats pretty obvious dont you think. The symbiot in the comics came from a direct event, secret wars and its more than evident that a secret wars senario wasn't going to happen in a spider-man movie, it'll never happen in any live action movie for that matter.

I'm quite aware of that, but it seems that the originator of this thread is not, seeing as how he is grasping at staws for which books this movie is based on.

Surprisingly, I actually wish they'd have used more of the Ultimate Spidey version of Venom for the movie. A space origin suit seems so out of place in the Spidey mythos, since 99% of his allies & enemies are beings enhanced thru science.
