He was awesome as High Evolutionary but I don’t think Gunn would do that haha. He did say he wants to use him as a new character though (i.e., not who he played in Peacemaker). But I think casting him as Brainy would just be too similar to what they did with him in GOTG 3.

when i was watching gotg vol 3, right after it was announced gunn would direct superman, it felt like he was sort of testing out how he was going to do superman.

adam warlock's flying scenes + the way high evolutionary gave off some brainiac vibes.

makes me think the dynamic between superman and mr. terrific was also gunn test-running the dynamic with batman, once he eventually shows up in the dcu.

The great thing is, we will find out soon enough who the villain is as they will have to start casting this soon.

I think that picture is more of a reference to Luthor actually.

When you think of the first movie, Ultraman was kind of a throwaway, which surprisingly leaked out relatively early on that it was a clone. I would have thought it would have been a better kept secret since it was only corenswet who had to be involved there in terms of knowing the truth (and the VFX team of course).

I watched Superman again last night and something I haven’t seen anyone really address is how the robots in the Fortress all refer to him as Superman and not Kal-El. I was thinking about this because maybe it implies that they are not actually from Krypton and maybe Kal just built them himself? Silver Age Superman was often portrayed as a genius and they are clearly taking influence from that version here (and All Star). Not sure though. Has Gunn addressed where the robots came from exactly?

So with Gunn pretty much confirming Brainiac today (thank God) I have to say…. One thing I DON’T think I want is… Lexiac. Aside from how stupid that name has always sounded to me, I also don’t see a need to merge Lex and Brainiac together for some stupid reason. Maybe it could be cool but I would rather have them just team up and betray Superman and then just have him take them each on individually or together. But not as some weird two-headed bald monster or whatever. In Gunn I trust but let them each be their own villain.

I don’t think Gunn would combine them but that was an excellent episode in the Animated Series. I could see Lex creating Brainiac with the help of the government and Kryptonian technology. Lex has made many mistakes trying to best Superman. I could see Lex doing it again with A.I.

Hmm okay I haven’t seen that one. I still have to binge the rest of the series. I really liked the Brainy and Lex stuff in season 1

The 1st draft is finished?! :funny:

Also, Gunn's tease.

He's coming.

Doesn’t that say “Draft 2”?

One of the only confirmed details we have is that Clark and Lex are “teaming up against a much bigger threat” so I don’t think we are dealing with a “Lexiac” or Ultron-esque situation. I think Lex will agree to help precisely because it’s an alien threat.

Anyway, my hype shall officially begin when David’s hair grows back. :o

It’s in the Justice League Unlimited series. Eventually Darksied combined with Brainiac during the series finale. It was epic.

Yes, Ghost in the machine was my favorite episode for season 2.

I hope Gun gives up a hint of Brainiac in Peacemaker real soon.

It’s so intriguing calling the movie the man of tomorrow with Brainiac as the big bad. Like Brainiac’s whole deal is his obsession with cataloguing the past and nostalgia. This is going to be such a good film

I still wouldn’t put it past Gunn be trolling with the script picture knowing that it would be the first thought of most people.

I don’t think it will be a troll as much as him exploiting the double meaning.

It’ll be all “you guys, it’s the brain vs. brawn debate between Lex and Superman,” leaving online fandom to do its rollercoaster of psychosis for awhile, until such a point that an actor is cast/a reveal is made and then he’ll be like “And, of course, Brainiac has both in spades.”

It’s not trolling. Even if it doesn’t literally mean Brainiac there’s a million things it could reference. Cheeky trolling is not Gunn’s MO.

I think it means Brainiac and Luther. Don’t look too deep into the image. It is an image of a human brain.

Yeah that’s about as direct of a confirmation of Brainiac as you can get. Gunn basically just stopped short of saying outright “we’re going to have Brainiac in this movie” lol. But it’s such a cool and subtle way to confirm it.

I’m guessing the MoT title ultimate refers to all three of them (Superman, Lex AND Brainiac).

I’m so happy right now!

I kinda hope you are right. I wouldn’t mind a fresh take on Brainiac. Making the character a earth based creation would make for a good story.
