Spider-Man: Edge of Time

I definitely DONT want a sequel to Shattered Dimensions. I dont want to control any more obscure, irrelevant Spider-Men.

I would LOVE s sequel to Shattered Dimensions with better controls and have it a bit more open.

I actually LIKED controlling the different Spider-Men in the different universes...but yeah, we need something different. I'm not sure if we should go for a free roam or not. But I am extremely sure we need a PROPER Norman Osborn/Green Goblin encounter. No movie, Ultimate, or Ultimate-inspired encounters. A REAL Goblin encounter.

Either way, I probably won't be buying this one right away. Too broke right now.

The game needs to focus on telling a well thought out story, one that focuses on Peter Parker. No dumb cosmic catastrophe. The villain needs to be out to take down Spider-Man, not be a ruler of some 3rd dimension somewhere. I agree on using Norman. It'd be great if they could craft a great story that focuses on the torment that Osborn places on Parker.

Pat you got my dream game nailed! :yay:

I think it'd be refreshing to play as Peter, too (and I don't mean "run over there and take a picture!" style game play).

To be anything worth while, the story needs to be really solid and take us (thematically) places we haven't been before. I think there should be times where we play (and watch cinematics) as Peter Parker. Having the opportunity to take off/put on the costume will give us a lot more story opportunities then we've previously seen.

A "focused" sand box game, somewhere between Batman: Arkham Asylum and SM2 would be great. We'd have the option to swing around where we want and stop crime/do civilian Parker stuff in between missions/levels, but the focus of the game would be more controlled, intimate set pieces and missions similar to AA, whether its sneaking into Oscorp to investigate the Goblin, or meeting up with Harry so you can discuss Norman and see if you can get some info on the goblin.

I hate how Activision is just launching all these Spidey games into development each year without even putting careful thought and time into them. I liked Shattered Dimensions, but Activision really needs to remember that quality comes first.

Oh, and one more thing: NO COMIC BOOK STORY ADAPTATIONS!!!!

I know a lot of people will disagree with me with this, but I always see people wanting to adapt the death of Gwen Stacy, Kraven's death, Maximum Carnage, the Clone Saga, the Master Planner, Secret Wars, etc. I always wonder why. Already knowing the story really ruins the chance for surprises and twists, and really, what's the point? What's the point of fighting Green Goblin and trying to save Gwen, if she's just going to die anyways? Where's the mystery of the Master Planner if we know he's Dock Ock? And yes, this also applies for movie-based games as well.

I hope they continue to create another original story liked in Shattered Dimensions, but with less restrictions. Like it was previously discussed, Paul Dini had plenty of say and freedom on the story and characters, and worked with Rocksteady to build its game, rather than just choosing the villains and story and let Dan Slott tie up all the rest. I want to see the writer getting involved in the game as deeply as possible to create a great story.

Yea i agree. Id like a completely original story. They can borrow from the comics, ala Arkham Asylum, but they dont need to try and recreate any stories.

Haha, thats my dream too man.

Thats just it, it doesnt, at least not for Activision.

I really hope they get back to the sandbox style for this game, they should take some of the best elements from Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and Web of Shadows (I loathe so many things in that game, it still holds some real good stuff), with cutting out the glitches, and a great story and character designs, there we will get the Ultimate Spider-Man Gaming Experience (no, I don't mean Earth1610)

I don't see how come hardly anyone comments on how Arkham Asylum copied gameplay style from several other games, including previous Spider-Man games (stealth like the PSX Spidey games, or the Spider-Sense like Detective Mode, like Spider-Man 3)

I would like to see a Spidey game done from a standpoint like GTA, they should not only make use of all of his abilities, but everything that he has available to him in the comics. For example, if you were supposed to track down Electro, you can go back to your hideout and equip Spidey's suit that enables him to deal with Electro without worrying about being harmed by lightning bolts. Or if you're going into the Kingpins building, wearing Spidey's armored suit will give you a better advantage on getting through multiple floors of thugs until you reach Kingpin.

I dont want another Shattered Dimensions at this time

I think the next Spider-Man game should play similar to Assassin's Creed, just have more acrobatic moves. IMO Spider-Man when not webswinging and jus running, should look like he also incorporates parkour. It should have one set storyline, a set number of villains, but have the villains appear randomly in the city.

I don't think we should do free-roam right now under Activision. Their mediocre standards and rushed time schedule will just produce a disappointing free-roam.

Maybe if we get another publisher, sure, but let's not risk it with Activision.

Awesome news! Hopefully, it'll be free roam though. I really thought Shattered dimensions was awesome, but I think we need another free roam game.

Free roam all the way. And seriously, how about the ability to use Peter Parker like so many above have mentioned. I think it's about time we got some living experience as Peter where you need to maintain your secret identity.

Use different costumes, different style web swinging with different animations depending on speed and style. Hell, two web shooting buttons would be brilliant for once. Im sick of only use single web swinging, lets get some double webs.

I much prefer the return to free roaming like the last few games.

shattered dimensions was good but it for me, was a rental at best and this is coming from a hardcore spidey fan.

We need an original 616 story where the emphasis should be a focused story driven concept and of course to take the best bits of the the games that came before.

For those who are HeroHQ VIPs:

Let them know what you want.

Activision usually gets their feedback from others OUTSIDE of the internet (which is how we get screwed up choices in games such as a FEW females in M:UA 1 because the people polled thought men were stronger than women and thus better).

You guys have good ideas, seriously. Let's make sure they hear them? Activision DOES check places like SHH! but they check their own forums first for inspirations. So far, all I heard there for SM games were "free roaming!" and "I want to play as Venom/Black Cat/Wolverine/Obscure-Spidey-Villain/Ally-Here!"

Activision's last list like this got Carnage into M:UA 2 so it does have some pull. Granted, this survey is mostly X-Men based, but it will most likely be used with the new Spider-Man game.

My choices:
Four Spider-Man Characters You Want to See in a Future Spider-Man Game
Lady Octopus (Carolyn Trainer)
Morlun
Green Goblin (Norman Osborn)
Dr. Octopus

Top 4 Powers You Want to Use in a Future X-Men Title
Pyrokinesis
Reality Warping
Magnekinesis (Magneto's ability)
Telepathy

X-Men I'd like to see or play as in a future title (Pre-Chosen)
Pre-Chosen
Jean Grey
Angel
Shadowcat
Polaris
Emma Frost

Add four more mutants to the previous list that weren't already there
Franklin Richards (yes, he's a mutant)
Quentin Quire (Kid Omega)
Squirrel Girl (Yes, I'm serious. It'd be cool and some serious fanservice :D)
Mister Sinister

Yes, I have bashed Activision in the past, but at least they're letting us give our input. They surprised us with a decent Spider-Man game before, let's make SURE this next one is better or at least less mediocre than it could be.

Now, on to Psychology class.

None of those elements were exclusive to Spider-Man. Games borrow from other games all the time, doesnt mean they are any less fantastic. Arkham Asylum is leaps and bounds better than any Spider-Man title. No Spidey title has even come remotely close to being an Arkham Asylum and once Arkham City drops, that bar will damn near be unreachable for Spider-Man as long as his license is with Activision.
