Daily Planet Redux: Man of Tomorrow News and Speculation Thread

I dont think people understand why Netflix will keep theatrical releases. Beyond the fact that it will make Netflix really profitable (as opposed to just profitable to shareholders) if they have a decent blockbuster schedule they will be the biggest studio in the world. They would be on better footing than even Di$ney.

Its truly terrifying...just like it was when Di$ney bought Faux. This is all really bad.

So long of a wait, though. :(

I couldn't see Dave Bautista playing Brainiac. James Marsters portrayal of Brainiac on Smallville was one of their best villains. I think that would be hard to top.

I enjoyed Superman: Unbound but still think the classic Brainiac is a little dull, and not that evil. Not so interesting to me personally. He just likes collecting data and pieces of planets for knowledge before destroying those worlds. I like a more menacing villain that has hatred for humans. Honestly, Marsters' performance was good.

I’m kind of sad this Year of Superman is ending. From the movies to the comics, I feel like all the creative teams working on Superman projects were firing on all cylinders and gave us fan an amazing year to be proud of.

Looking forward to bigger and better things in the future! Look up!

good for them bring in an lesser know for the role, instead of the {insert name for the sake of name actor here} not personally familiar with their work...

but, they must of really nailed that audition

I think there might be a little bit of wiggle room in between
I think Gunn should prioritize casting the right actors for the roles, as he envisions them. Not the biggest names or who generates the most buzz on social media.

That latter mentality is why a lot of casting directors and studios cast people based on their Instagram followers, and why Marvel casts Padro Pascal to play Reed Richards and don't even bother to change his look to suit the character (because they are more interested in having Padro star in their Marvel movie so they can put him on the press junkets).

At the end of the day, its about the work. Plenty of actors out there who are just as talented as the "prestigious" actors you see in every project. They just haven't gotten that big break yet.

Stop prioritizing clout. Prioritize talent.

This is the way.

What’s going on here

Why is Gunn so adverse to spending any money on actors
Im sure budget has a lot to do with it. If he can find great actors on the cheap because they are new the producers would be very happy.
