Predator Fans Haven’t Thought Of Best Prey 2 Idea Yet, Director Teases

Speaking to the podcast Radio One’s Screen Time, the writer-director teased fans with the suggestion that there are some very good ideas for more Predator movies that haven’t been brought up yet:

“I would like to be involved, and I think there’s several really cool things to do next, and it would be interesting to embark on a few different things, rather than… And I think some of the more exciting ideas are ones that people aren’t considering, you know? Just as this movie was a, like, ‘I can’t believe they haven’t made this yet,’ there’s a few other ideas out there, for me, that are, like, ‘Oh, they haven’t done this yet. This could be cool.’ So, yeah. […] That moment [of inspiration] may have already been had.”

As much as I like Amber Midthunder, I'd be fine if they did like anthology-type stories or one-offs involving different cultures meeting a Predator. Maybe there is a subtle through-line in the stories, but I like the one-off idea.

The entire franchise has been one offs with some connections to previous movies and it’s always been a couple of lines here or there mentioning Arnold and his team. I’d like to see a stronger sense of continuity going forward with a main character returning.

I came up with a similar idea, but I made a Predator the serial killer going around and killing people.

Just thinking of one in Victorian London, with the 19th century architecture, all of the lampposts amidst the rainy and foggy evenings illuminating the wet cobblestone with nary a sound but the occasional clacking of carriage wheels and footsteps adding to your suspicion that some thing is out to get you. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, the Predator strikes, then fades back into the foggy and rainy night, as quickly as it appeared, with its trophy in tow, as if nothing was there to begin with.

As far as the other set pieces go, I am picturing the Predator huddled in the dark attic of an abandoned house on a thundering, rainy night, occasionally illuminated by lightning flashing, stalking a group of men tracking a dangerous killer. Also, Big Ben would make for an excellent final showdown. You could also do some really cool stuff with the steam punk aesthetic and that era of technology.

Basically, I am saying that I want and I need it.
