I think that's a good way to put it. They've always tried to make every movie try to feel like the original and this one feels more unique and actually fun.

This looks pretty good apart from 1 big thing for me, I like the actress and her slightly off-kilter vibe which works with her seemingly being an android, the world/concept looks interesting and beasts… the one thing that is a bit of a bummer for me is the look of the Predator which is a far cry from the other cooler looks we’ve seen before.

Honestly and without wanting to stir any kind of the usual **** I can’t shake the feeling of it looking like a feminized Predator. Weird choice.

I think Dek looking a little less cool is the point. He’s supposed to be an outcast. I don’t see the feminized bit you’re talking about though.

Agreed and usually its a slow reveal of the Predator in the movies, as others pointed out like a slasher movie, the villain isnt revealed until the final act, so its a nice switch up to see the Predator from the start as the protagonist and we are going to get lots of him.

I dont think a complaint of this film is going to be it follows the usual formula and just a rehash of the original Predtor film, even Prey got that to a degree from some quarters.

My only concern is when the AvP films tried that, they fell flat on their face.

I applaud Tratchenberg for doing something different with the franchise, I wasn't expecting the quirkiness of Elle's character, but it's great to see her in a movie like this. You can see influences like Ripley's power loader in Aliens, and the fact Elle is being carried around by the Predator, like Chewie carrying C3P0 in ESB, I'm intrigued to see the full movie.
