Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread

I know they should start filming next month (July), but do you think Daredevil will be released before or after Avengers 2? I doubt it gets released over the summer of 2015, since there is only six or seven weeks between A2 and Ant Man. That's a lot of content to take in over a short amount of time when most people are outside. If they wait until the fall of 2015.....well, I'll be pissed.

I'm betting it being released prior to A2, probably in March or April.

I'm thinking March 2015 as well. I posted the following on another thread, but this makes the most sense to me schedule-wise:
---------------------------------------------------
Logistically, it wouldn't make sense to follow a "one show per year" schedule.

Each show basically has an independent creative team; writers, producers, directors, showrunners et al. So they should be thought of as independent shows, similar to how Marvel Studios manages their movies. So I think The Defenders can be considered the de facto second season for all four shows similar to how Avengers could be considered a sequel to each independent franchise.

If I'm right, the schedule could look something like:

Early 2015: Daredevil
Mid 2015: Jessica Jones
Late 2015: Iron Fist
Early 2016: Luke Cage
Mid 2016: The Defenders

For Wave 2, they could (IMO should) combine Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones into a Heroes For Hire show, and replenish the ranks with Punisher and Moon Knight. So hypothetically...

Early 2017: Daredevil (season 2)
Mid 2017: Moon Knight
Late 2017: Punisher
Early 2018: Heroes For Hire
Mid 2018: The Defenders II

...and so on.

A pretty exacting schedule, to be sure, but Marvel Studios has proven that such an intricate, well-planned, precisely executed model can work for their movies, and I'm sure their vision for the Netflix shows will be similar in scope and scale.

Filming is still on course for a July start.

^ Yeah he is

Who else wants to bet we'll get our first look at Cox in the costume at SDCC?

That'd be nice, and definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

Btw, I found some info about the pilot. Its codename is "Bluff", and is scheduled to shoot between June 30th and July 28th. The following link has a list of talent they're looking for, including boxers.

EDIT: In addition to the above casting, they're looking for people who could play "Thugs and Arms Dealers" in their 20s-30s, as well as 18-23 year old College Students for a scene filming on Thursday. So it does look like filming has quietly started.

 Cool, our first Daredevil scoop, not counting the castings. Have you sent this info to Superherohype.com? If not i think you should!

But wait, there's more!

I found these audition videos (both by the same guy). Judging from the context, it seems that the Kingpin is forcing "Laurence" (which may or may not be a placeholder name) to saw off a guy's hands. This scene may not even be in the script, it could be something the casting company just sent out to get a feel for the actor, but it's worth noting.

Seems like their going the Miller, Bendis and Brubaker Daredevil.

Hopefully we get something at comic con. Daredevil is my most anticipated property that Mavel studios have done. Lol it's pretty much my Guardians of the Galaxy.

You're awesome. Thanks for the scoops bro!

Yep, awesome that they're redoing the origins ! By the way, I was thinking, Marvel said the budget for all the Netflix series will be $200 million, but do we have any idea how much every single show will get?

I'm guessing logically that each of the four will get $50 million, but I'm just trying to imagine what we can expect production values wise with this, I'm guessing though that it's going to be big, 50 million for the first season would be pretty damn big by tv standards.

I kind of hope the show will really stand out visually and feel really big, I kind of wish they'd shoot 35 mm film, but I'm guessing it's gonna be Alexa as usual......

Don't forget the Defenders show (if that counted in what they were referring to).

Defenders is actually counted as separate from Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage & Jessica Jones. They call Defenders a miniseries for some reason (considering that some miniseries are supposed to be one season & end up being renewed for more)

Glad to see those screencaps. It seems the Matt Murdock who is blinded is a bit younger than some of the portrayals in the comics. It's about the age I would prefer him to be since I read The Man Without Fear first (interestingly, it's not even clear Frank Miller intended him to appear quite that young at the time, but that's how John Romita Jr. drew him). To me, it works because the "disabled" Matt is an added burden for Jack Murdock to support (he would need special braille books for him to become a lawyer). That helps drive his motivation to work for the Fixer.

So is this "Lawrence" a random thug or is he somebody more important? He doesn't seem enthusiastic enough about violence to be Bullseye, nor does he seem professional enough to be Bullet.

My guess is that if he's anyone important, he's probably Mister Fear on the path to becoming a proper villain.

Thanks for the info, I'm trying to get my friend who's an aspiring actor in this, where did you find the info for the "Thugs and Arms Dealers"?

I can't see the videos, that are "private"

The first name from the comics I had in mind when I read the name "Lawrence" was Lawrence... "Larry" Cranston (Mister Fear 3, and the most interesting).
