Idea Factory localizing turn-based PlayStation 4 RPG.

Dark Rose Valkyrie, released as Black Rose Valkyrie in Japan, is coming to PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in spring 2017, publisher Idea Factory International announced.

The RPG will feature English and Japanese voice-over options with English text.

About
This spring 2017, defend humanity from the Chimera Virus as the new leader of Japan’s covert military agency (ACID) in Dark Rose Valkyrie! Featuring work from “Tales of” scenario writer Takumi Miyajima and “Tales of” character designer Kosuke Fujishima, this real-time combat, action-packed RPG will have you battling enemies that change in form and strength as darkness sets. But that’s not all, a traitor is in your midst! Use a visual-novel interview system to find them out and strengthen the Valkyrie Force and save the world!

• Take the fight into Overdrive! Characters can transform into their stronger split personalities mid-battle, but be strategic – too many transformations will lead to Fatigue!
• Customize Combos! Customize attacks for each character, and do more damage with Riot Combos!
• A Traitor Amongst You: Depending on your choices, one team member will betray you. Find the traitor in visual-novel style interrogation sequences, and change the game’s ending!

Dark Rose Valkyrie will launch physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 on June 6 in North America and June 9 in Europe, publisher Idea Factory International announced.




The RPG features the talents of Tales of series scenario writer Takumi Miyajima and Tales of series character designer Kosuke Fujishima. It puts players in the role of the leader of an elite military force known as ACID (Anti-Chimera Interception Division) to stand between humanity and those transformed by a mysterious virus. Players will fight using customized weapons, team attacks, a powerful Overdrive mode, and more. You’ll also need to regularly interrogate your teammates to find out who has been affected by the virus.

Story
In the year 1929, a massive outbreak occurred, transforming normal people into inhuman creatures known as Chimera.

The cause: a mysterious virus carried over by a meteorite known as the Black Garnet, which had crashed into earth long ago.

At its inception, the Chimera Virus wiped out 3% of the world’s entire population. To stave off the pandemic, Japan closed its nation to the rest of the world and formed a covert military agency known as ACID (Anti-Chimera Interception Division) to combat the remaining Chimera in the country.


Over time, ACID established within itself a special unit known as Special Force Valkyrie. You must lead this force and eradicate the Chimera that remain to this day!

Question characters to figure out whether they're lying.

Idea Factory International has released the opening movie and new set of screenshots for Dark Rose Valkyrie.




The screenshots highlight the game’s interview system, in which players must get testimony about a character to find out whether they’re lying about a certain topic.



As you question each person, you can get proof to corroborate or expose their testimony using special interview skills. You are given a set amount of questions you can ask, meaning you can either choose one question to ask multiple people, or use all your questions on one person. Once you gather all the information you need, you will compile it into a report and declare who the liar is (if there is a liar). Rewards come in the form of currency, items, and more.




Dark Rose Valkyrie is due out for PlayStation 4 on June 6 in North America and June 9 in Europe. Read more about the game here.
