Lets face it.. who better then darkseid to be the main villian in a movie..
But the big problem with mr darkseid is that he is just to huge to be in ONE movie..

My hope is that he vill be the main villian in atleest 2 Superman movies.. but with singer on board... not likly.
So where else can he hopfully find his way?
and who should play him.. and what epic scene with darky would you like to see?

Dennis Haysbert is the only choice for me.

Spoilers for first season of 24:
This is a clip from 24 where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) meet for the very first time. Just look at his stance, his demeanor, and just listen to the sound of his voice. It literally screams Darkseid.

And then a little photoshop work:

Need I say more?

DARKSEID is the Ultimate Villain. He is just a BLOCKBUSTER Villain waiting to happen, if DONE right! I hope they give him to either Superman or Wonder Woman. They can both handle him!

I could very easily see Darkseid being the villain in a Justice League film, but a Fourth World movie would be pretty cool.

And yes, Dennis Haysbert would rock.

lets hope Bryan Singer jumps ship to do the sequel to brokeback mountain, and we get a real director in who will do a superman film with Darkseid.

Superman is beneath Darkseid. As would be apearing in a Superman film as the villain.

they should just do a New Gods movie and have him in it...

Darkseid in the next Superman movie is one of the better suggestions for the next villain that I have heard yet. Superman needs a challenge and Jack Kirby was known to have made some the most powerful characters in comicdom. I think that it would be a tribute to him just to have one of his characters in a film.

I'd rather see Darkseid as a villain for a JLA trilogy... he's WAY too big for one movie regardless.

yeah but they will never make a JLA movie or trilogy..
at best we will get a Batman/Superman movie .. but i fear that ti till go atleat 50 year befor any JLa movie

That Manip is awesome sepharih. Darkseid Has to be in a movie.
Dump the whole Clark want's to be with Lois, Lois want's to be with Superman, Jimmie want's to be with Clark, Richard want to be with Jean, oops, wrong franchise.
It's time Big Blue faces Darkseid.

Personally I see Darkseid played by M. Ironside only. And even if I would like to see him in a movie, I doubt they'll do it.
You can't bring Darkseid if you don't bring the whole fourth world with him. (well if one want to do him correctly) . So I sincerely doubt of his appearance.
I think he has better chance to appear in Smallville than in Superman or Wonderwoman. Then again people are going to complain about Smallville .....

I hear what everyone is saying about seeing Darkseid in a Justice League movie, but as was said, at best, we probably only have a 30% chance of seeing said movie within the current generation of Superhero films. By the time we get one, the franchises will probably have already gone through another restart.

Also, in regards to the suggestion of a New Gods film, it’s not a bad idea, but the chances of it happening are equally slim.

Actually, that’s exactly why I want Darkseid in the first place. One of the biggest complaints you tend to here about Superman is that he’s “too powerful”. People, understandably so, tend to think that the only way anyone can actually fight Superman is with Kryptonite. It’s time people get a villain who not only can stand on par with Superman at his full strength, but who also can, in fact, swat him aside like an annoyance.

If we’re talking animated voice acting roles then HELL YES! Just like Kevin Conroy as Batman, there is simply no substitute. That said, Ironside just wouldn’t work well in a live action film.
For one, he’s pushing 60, and this role will be very physically demanding since it will require long hours in heavy makeup, very similar to what was done with Ron Perlman as Hellboy, or Michael Chiklis as the thing (unless of course they go the CGI route which is a BAD IDEA).
For two, he lacks the needed physical presence to portray Darkseid. At 5’10 he would be easily dwarfed by Routh’s 6’4 frame and that simply wouldn’t do.

I’ll leave my thoughts on the show’s quality aside for now.
Superman is already beneath Darkseid as it is, Clark Kent from Smallville isn’t even a blip on his radar. Were they to meet, he would quite literally snap him like a toothpick, no questions asked.

For Darkseid I would go with Ralph Moeller, at least for the body. And Ironside for the voice.

Moeller (Seated next to Crowe)

He stands at 6'5" and is a former Mr Olympia contestant, the tallest in history as a matter a fact.

Obviously his face would be made up and he would have either a voice over done, or use his own voice. Although I don't doubt his talents as an actor. Despite a smaller part in Gladiator and Beerfest being his only claim to fame. In his native country of Germany he acted in a Conan series. But with the vast amount of make-up and CGI necessary to create the Darkseid look, I'd be willing to voice over a character such as this.

That's exactly what I think. Darkseid doesn't have a place in "the current generation of superhero films". Maybe he will have to wait for a generation of films that allow him to be presented correctly.

Well I was thinking about CGI in fact. Personally I find the Hulk was pretty well done, even if the film was crap, I think he was well done. About the make up, as you mentionned it if Chiklis or Perlman did it why noy Ironside? And I think it is possible to cheat about his high.
And it is possible to dub him. Take someone who has the physical presence and then take M.Ironside for the dubbing.

Yeah in the real world, in my world, in your world, in everyone's world but maybe not in Smallville's reality ; I find Smallville Clark's pretty strong and Smallville doesn't have the same standarts (look at Zod for example). The point of talking about Smallville, anyway, was to say the same thing than you : I doubt Darkseid will see the the light in the current generation of superhero film.

Darkseid is the PERFECT villain for a Justice League movie... What you do is build it up in smaller movies; ie hints at "alien technology" from another planet in a flash movie, or in a superman movie and then have a full on apocalypse invasion for the JL movie making heroes team together... These are my manipulations of Darkseid:

If we had to wait for that to develop in that manner, A lot of us would be dead. Darkseid is a great villian and would be a good pick for the next Superman film. He would also be a great villian for a Justice Leage film, but I am not going to hold my breath for that to happen. Nice images by the way .

They should make a movie called Trinity, have it act as Superman 3, Batman 3 and Wonder Woman 2 all rolled into one...and they can fight Darkseid.

Michael Ironside

In the cartoons, Darkseid began as Superman's ultimate threat, with little information on who he is and the location of Apokalips. Except for Orion's introduction in the 2nd season, no other gods from New Genesis was introduced. Then, as time passed, Darkseid took on the Justice League and there was more emphasis on the New Gods and New Genesis.

That's how I'd do it in the movieverse. Have Superman know very little of Darkseid during their first encounter except for what Darkseid tells him and what the audience learns of (parademons, Apokolips, etc.).

Then, if there is a JL film (doubtful, but one can hope) introduce him into that film as the villain and give him more supporting villains (Granny, Kalibak, Steppenwolf, Female Furies, etc.)

And even after that, if Darkseid proves to be a popular enough character, WB can began talks of a New Genesis/New Gods film...again doubtful, but one can hope.

See Darkseid is one of the most powerful beings in the universe and can be introduced in many of DC's films because it mimics the comics. Darkseid has tangled with many of the Justice League members and its acceptable.

Obviously, you wouldn't put Lex Luthor in a Green Latern film and you definitely wouldn't have a spinoff dedicated to him, because he is mainly a threat to Superman. But Darkseid, has threatened billions, from many galaxies.

Michael Ironside

then the titanic comes back to the surface piloted by jimmy hoffa and elvis.

Michael Clark Duncan should be Darkseid. Dennis Haybert for either Martian Manhunter or John Stewart/Green Arrow.

John Stewart is Green Arrow!!!!

But seriously, Ironside has the voice, but not the stature or screen prescence to be Darkseid... you guys are brainwashed.

Also, having Darkseid featured as the main villain doesn't require the Fourth World to be prominent, just there... no other fourth world characters even need speaking parts, honestly. Just having it there and implied is good enough.

But yeah, not gonna happen.
