Darkwing Duck

Do you guys notice that a few of the characters from DWD resembled characters from Marvel and DC?

Yeah, Megavolt always reminded me of Electro. And Liquidator reminded me alot of Hydro Man. Also Bushroot was something of a male Poison Ivy from what I remember.

Yep and I think Quackerjack resembled the Joker and Steelbeek resembled either Kingpin or Rubert Thorn

Darkwing Duck as a series is a hodgepodge of superhero/spy/sci-fi concepts. But lots of the characters have 2 layers to them, a visual concept and a character concept. Visually DWD is the Crimson Avenger (who himself is a transparent Shadow aping) as a duck. But his gear is mostly Batman with a little Sandman thrown in. He uses a gas gun (like Sandman, but that was probably so that they could keep CA's gun motif without giving him guns ), but the gas gun has the functionality of Batman's untility belt. He also has a lot of Batman esque kit. Including DWD versions of the Batcycle, Batwing, and Batcave. He also has Batman's dead boring normal guy alter ego.

Launchpad in DWD is like an adult Jimmy Olsen. Goeslyn is like Dick Grayson. Even though they turn her and her buddy Honker into Green Arrow and Speedy. Stegmutt is a lot like a happy-go-luck Hulk. Gizmoduck he's like a goofy Ironman. Morgana Macawber looks like a conbination of Lilly Munster and Mortitia Addams, but her character is all Zatana. Neptunia is Aquaman/Namor, but she actually looks like a fish person.

The villians are less complex
NegaDuck=Professor Zoom (in concept anyway)
Liquidator=Hydroman
Quackerjack=Joker
Bushroot=Poison Ivy
Megavolt=Electro
Steelbeak=combination of James Bond villians (Jaws and Emilio Largo specifically)

LOL!

Great show! My favorite of all during the "Disney-dominated afternoon era" in Cartoon History!

You know what I can't wrap my mind around: Launchpad lives with Drake, he's seen with him all the time, but he doesn't have a crimefighting alter ego at all... and all the villains know who he is. What's the point of even maintaining the pretense of Darkwing having a secret identity if that's the case? Does this not bother anyone else?
