Darthphere's House of Style: From Geek to Chic.

I think they are selling some men's clothes now?

So, yesterday I bought several pieces for the office. I bought a cute, fitted sweater vest on sale at Express, but I'm not really sure what to wear it with. It's a black vest with gray, white, and charcoal argyle pattern on the front. It's a v-neck one that buttons in the front. What should I wear under it??

I don't know, but you'll be wearing my glass of fruit punch over it! :cmad:

Haha, mine looks completely different, don't worry.

It pretty much looks like this, only with different colors:

I also need to find a cute pair of brown pumps for work...surprisingly hard to find.

Manic...I hate to be the one to tell you this, but black people are not allowed to wear argyle unless you are Tiger or over the age of 60...this has been discussed at the meetings

It's allowed as long as it's business attire. I don't rock argyle with casual wear. I'm not weird.

A nice Oxford style shirt would work really well. I've also seen people pair them with a black tee or long sleeve shirt for a slightly more casual look.

Pretty much what she's wearing in that picture would be fine.

I know it's "popular," but I hate the look of stripes with argyle :csad: And I thought I had a solid white Oxford, but mine is striped! I need to go out shopping again.

Well go a solid color then. But the style shirt is perfect.

Gotcha. Was mainly wondering if there was any other way to wear it, but I'm guessing not. I am not normally a vest wearer lol.

Because the neck on that sweater vest is so low your options are limited.

Went shopping today(needed to get some nice dress pants for Co-op). I gained weight :( I went from size W 30 to W 32! And I really didn't find any good pants for my size. Except for one. Perry Ellis.(I can't beleive I've never heard of this label/designer before. Is it at all popular?)
And I got a Tommy Hilfiger checkered dress shirt and a really nice Calvin Klein dress shirt. Oh, and a belt.

Are you serious? You've never heard of Perry Ellis? LOL!

His stuff tends to run small so I usually don't buy his clothes.

I'm small so.... :p

But yeah, I had no idea about it, but glad I know of it now.

It's relatively cheap and good quality. Good find.

Regarding Perry Ellis...

^^ This is definitely true. Seems like everything is made as "slim fit."
When I have found things like pants in my proper size, I couldnt get them above my thighs!

I would disagree. I say that the quality of PEllis is on the lowest end of all the designer labels. I tried on a Perry Ellis suit recently and was not impressed with what appeared to be very low quality stitching and such. I really felt like it would tear apart without much effort.
The sad thing is, it was a good looking suit and was on sale at a very good price point, so I really wanted it to work.

I like slim fitting stuff, so it's perfect for me. And I don't think the quality is bad. At least, not what I saw.

I'm still a CK boy though, hopefully I can find those CK slacks I wanted in my size at another Winners( Winners is actually a great store, I never appreciated it until now. And they had these gorgeous D&G slacks that fit me perfectly, but sadly, they were $100 and I don't have that kind of money.)

Kinda wantin these. I already own a cuter than these (a pair of blue and white striped cotton/linen blend pants), so I dunno if I need another blue/white stripe pair of pants /greedy

Not really into those tbh. Have to see what it looks like as an outfit though to really judge.

BTW, does anyone have a pair of TOMS Shoes? I have been wanting to buy some but wanted to know how they fit.
