The theory that's always been going around regarding this series is that Voltron is actually sentient and realizes he's being controlled. Would be interesting if towards the end of the film the pilots discover that he's actually somewhat self-aware, but it would have to be done in a non cheesy way.

I guess if Pacific Rim does well that will help with a greenlight for Voltron.. unfortunately whoever has the studio rights now will end up waiting for that film..
