Darthphere's House of Style: From Geek to Chic.

What's your favorite clothing brand? (Limited to 3 because I know someone will ***** about not being able to choose one.)

Kinda tough because I just go with what I think looks good brand be damned.

I guess I have more Hugo Boss and Kuhlman shirts than anything as far as casual goes.

When designing an outfit for a night on the town, what do you focus on first? (i.e. shoes, shirt, jacket, jeans/pants)

I focus on shirt first. Usually a button down.

If it's formal, then I'll usually focus on the tie first.

How would you define your style? Hybrid answers are welcome.

Upscale Casual? I spend the vast majority of my week in ACUs since I'm in the army, which means that when I go out I like to dress a little bit nicer. If I'm going to the bar I might have nicer jeans, untucked buttondown shirt and a casual sportcoat or some sort of jacket. It's usually a little fancier than most in a college bar, but not too fancy to really look out of place (if that makes sense)

Now if I'm dressing up, then I go all out. I've loved suits since I was a kid and will gladly spend the extra money on a hand tailored well made suit.

Your favorite article of clothing?

White with thin black pinstripe buttondown shirt.

Your least favorite article of clothing?

sweatshirts. I like wearing them around the house and to work out in, but can't pull it off in a bar or at a party.

Your favorite accessory? (This could also include any tech like a cellphone)

Tough one. I love my cowboy boots because they are conversation starters in when I'm in Chicago, BUt I would have to say my belt buckle. It fulfills the "country" requirement that chicks dig and it's a piece of history. It's an old Soviet belt buckle form when they invaded Afghanistan. One of the locals gave it to me on my deployment over there.

One fashion item you wish you could have but can't? State reason why.

Hats in general, but especially cowboy hats. Some people can look great in them but I both look and feel like a raging dbag every time I've tried one on.

Darth you have to be at least a Jared Leto on the gay scale to make a fashion thread. You're about a John Stamos, sorry.

What do you guys think of Affliction t-shirts?

Can we establish that girl jeans and skinny jeans do NOT look good on guys? And that if you add a studded belt, a fitted cap, big sneakers, and a ribcage hoodie from Hot Topic to that you look like a total *****e?

This is mostly directed at you 16 year olds who hang around the food court. You guyses look like weenies.

Your answer is better than mine. :o

I'm a Mixed Martial Arts fan, but generally if you wear MMA organization clothes you end up looking like a dork. That goes for the fighters as well.

I disagree. HOWEVER, there are a few who can pull them off. Specifically, white skinny skater kids and the Kings of Leon. I agree with the rest. Studded belts are stupid.

Not a fan. It conjures up images of rednecky MMA wannabes with tribal tats. And on top of that they're kind of ugly.

Yeah, they're pretty **** ugly.

Pretty much for tools, whether you practice MMA or not.

The Ecko walk out shirts are nice, however, everyone that has walked out with them has gotten knocked the **** out. Bisping, Mir, and Torres.

I have a Tap Out shirt that I always hesitate to wear b/c I'll look like a tool unless the lighting is dim lol

Yeah, they're pretty **** ugly.
I think "scene" clothing in general is just heinous. And like I said, scene kids are the weenies who clog up the ****ing food court. :down

Indeed. Skinny jeans just work on rock stars for some reason.

I wish I had Max Paynes leather coat. I can't find one thats just right

I think fashion is all about self confidence. I mean, there are some looks I would love to try but I'm way to self conscious about it. Like cowboy boots. I love them, but I feel stupid wearing them out.

I feel you. I have some black Guess ones. I wear them out all the time but I feel a little weird sometimes.

Oh yeah. I love indie-ish fedora hats and I like the way scarves look on people but I always feel stupid wearing a scarf, and I feel stupid wearing any kind of hat.

I agree with you on that. I used to want a pair just bc I like wearing boots over other things I'm not much of a tennis shoe guy. I even like to tuck in my shirts but I just can't go out like that.
