Nah, that's hip hop style. Skater is more vans, skinny jeans and old t-shirt/flannel button down.

Most skaters don't wear skinny jeans, at least not the ones I know. I wear skate clothes and I would never be caught dead in skinny jeans. These are skater pants:

Anyway, takes shoes similar to the pair in the first picture, a pair of pants similar to these I posted, add a hoodie and a NY Giants hat and that's my style when I'm just hanging out. I obviously dress a lot more preppy when I go to work or to occasion that calls to be more dressy.

Yeah, there's definitely a difference between the two, but neither are for me. Like you said it's a matter of personal taste. I guess I'm just stuck behind the times, because I still like my jeans baggy.
