I guess it doesn't matter. I'll probably end up losing it, anyway.

Why have a slip cover that doesn't have a bottom ?

I really don't think you're actually supposed to keep that slipcover on. It was only for packaging since the cover underneath doesn't say the movie title on the front.

Yeah the slip cover didnt mean much to me. But I kept it because I can make it work. I just thought that for $16.99 I got a nice Blu-ray case that wasn't ****ing cheap and recycled and **** and it was unique that I got my moneys worth. Plus It was a 2 disc set.

so appearantly they did not make a rental only version of the dvd. My local video store (they do still exist!) had to buy 30 copies of the two disc version. They don't rent out the second disc though but they are going to sell the complete sets when they sell off most of them. I'm totally going to buy it.

Also I don't know about the Blu release, but Finchers commentary is edited for cursing. I thought that was the goofiest thing.

wow I finally got mine. I didnt realize the slip cover was so...detached I thought it was like the ones that we normally get. And I wish that there was a Blu Ray/DVD combo

and my black case came creased :cmad: Whatever.

Im going to watch this movie until then disc breaks.

I hate the awards part of the moviemaking process…And besides, on Social Network, I didn’t really agree with the critics’ praise. It interested me that Social Network was about friendships that dissolved through this thing that promised friendships, but I didn’t think we were ripping the lid off anything. The movie is true to a time and a kind of person, but I was never trying to turn a mirror on a generation…Let’s hope we strove to get at something interesting, but Social Network is not earth-shattering.
From Fincher's interview in W Magazine

The guy is cool as a frozen dogturd. All the praise and he basically says, 'WTF, it's just little film--no biggie.'

Aaron Sorkin's Full Screenplay For 'The Social Network' - Plus Q&A

It's nice that the screenplay is available online and both the screenplay and the interview it's a good read.

Here's a excerpt from the interview.

DEADLINE: This script about the behind-the-scenes of the founding of Facebook is technically an adaptation but not based on the actual book?

AARON SORKIN: Initially, I was given a 14-page book proposal that Ben Mezrich wrote for his publisher about these guys and the friction between them. The publisher wanted to get simultaneous film deals and took it to Hollywood and that’s how it ended up in my hands. And I said yes on page three. That’s the fastest I’ve ever said yes to anything. And it was because it’s set against this very modern backdrop of this very modern profession that I didn’t know very much about at all. It was a classic story of friendship, loyalty, betrayal, power, jealousy and class: things that Shakespeare and Chayefsky wrote about yet none of those guys was available so I have it.

Interesting to mention that Aaron actually wrote the screenplay roughly around the same time Mezrich wrote the book.

I agree with him, though. While it is in my top 5 2010 movies, take away Andrew Garfield's performance and it's nowhere near as great. For me, at least.

He is basically saying, all the praise for the Social Network, there is a little film called Zodiac I did, where is the praise for that?

I say his and Eisenberg's were the two best performances.

Yeah, it's the same for me, Eisenberg stepped out of his comfort zone and delivered a great performance.

finally watched it...a little over hyped but a great movie and worthy of all the awards and nominations it has received. I think one of the reasons it will likely win the academy award is because it is socially and culturally relevant. Beautifully filmed, well acted, funny...if anybody had told me this is how the facebook movie was going to turn out I would have laughed...alas I have doubted Fincher, but I guess I had no idea about the alleged back stabbings and going ons in facebook that ultimately made the film emotional and very dramatic.

and by the way Andrew Garfield's performance seems to have been sorely overlooked by some of these smaller award ceremonies so far. I hope he gets a nom come oscars announcements.

9/10

Finally got around to seeing this the other day and WOW! Jesse Eisenberg's performance blew me away! So used to seeing him in stuff like Zombieland and Adventureland and then just wow. Garfield was fantastic as well, now Im actually excited about the new Spiderman

This. Zodiac is still Fincher's best. Another criminal thing the Oscars did.

Zodiac??? Fincher's best???? Above Se7en and Fight Club???? Thats just.... WRONG! I love Zodiac and everything but damn I could never go that far

And why is that?? I am a movie enthusiast and I consider it an extremely bold statement

It's Fincher's most maturely directed movie, with the exception of TSN of course.

Anybody loved Fincher reading his awards speech from a sheet? He's got no Hollywood pretensions at all.
