i think it will not play out this way. Truth be told, i think this movie might bomb like a jihad warrior. Nearly everybody's response to learning about this movie's existence consists of chuckles and rolleyes. And even though it could very possibly be a very good flick, it will still be labeled as that ''facebook'' movie. And that sounds incredible sucky. And yes, i realize it's a drama about the invention of the website but still. It will need word of mouth most of all. I think the trailers so far are very well done and original but it won't get most people excited.

I think that the whole assumption that films based on popular things like facebook en mafia wars will be popular because the things they are based on is popular is in some cases wrong. I might eat bread every day. I love that ****. but it doesn't mean i'll go and see bread: The movie.

Lol.

Great point but I was just taking somewhat of a wild guess when I posted that. You are most likely right though. The thing that irritates me the most about this film is that the subject matter or story is really only deserving to be one of those made for TV films. They had one about the story between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs awhile back, that's what they should have done with this idea. I just don't think it's cinema worthy.

Yeah, you are absolutely right though on the fact that studios nowadays are willing to take the name of every known property imagineable to sell a movie. Monopoly, The Smurfs, Lego, Facebook.

And now you mention it, it does sound like something to base a TV movie around. But apparantly the script is really good, and if it isn't I hope Fincher can elevate the material. Fincher is undisputedly a good director, but he needs to pick good projects. I hardly can remember anything from Benjamin Button aside from the ageing effects, but I think Zodiac is the best film of his career. I hope this is a good choice he made. I'm also fairly sceptical, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

I think it will be more than we think. I rolled my eyes at the idea of Fincher doing this too but with more coming out it seems to be alot more than a Facebook film. I too did hear the script is great so this could be more than we think it will be. I don't think someone like Fincher would have taken this on if it wasn't the least bit interesting.

the only reason to watch a DAVID FIBCHER movie is because o the actor who was cast as spiderman?

:cwink::woot:

One of the reasons. I just watched Boy A and he is fantastic. Probably the best actor of his generation. So I'm eagerly awaiting to see what he'll do in this.

You're crowning him the best actor of his generation after seeing one of his films?

Yeah I would say. I don't know of any 26 year old actors who can match him can you?

Good point there. Maybe one of the best. But it takes alot for me to be absorbed into someone's performance and their emotions. Garfield was soul crushing in Boy A.

Watch Red Riding.

I really liked the second Teaser. Really looking forward to this.

I have no doubt that this movie is going to be really good. Inception has been the movie I've been looking forward to the most this year, but as soon as I read the interview where Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails talks about how f****ing good the movie is, and that he's doing all the music for it, I decided the social network would be the movie I'd choose if I could only watch one this year.

David Fincher and Trent Reznor have never let me down. I don't expect the movie being any less than great.

Yeah, I just straight up love the new trailer. I thought the first teaser was really well done, the second a little less so. But this trailer really solidified my decision to check this movie out. Dunno how other people are going to react to it though. :o

I liked it. I still think people are underestimating this film.

looks like a Fincher movie. but the story looks to simple for a Fincher movie.

Looks well acted but I think I'll probably check it out on cable.

Fantastic trailer.:wow: I really hope that Fincher is back after the incredibly lame Benjamin Button. Anyone know what version of Creep is playing in the trailer?

If this movie turns out to be really great, which I think it will, anyone else think it will be looked upon years from now as a period piece?

This trailer makes me want to see this. All the teenagers who will end up seeing it will probably say it sucked because it was so serious. lol

I'm liking everything I'm seeing from this movie. Looks really solid.

After being solid for pretty much his entire career, will Eisenberg get some serious acclaim for this? I hope this.
