The trailer's crew information at the end revealed that the composer is none other than David Newman. The rest of the trailer had me worried but that's a really interesting choice. I loved his score for Serenity, and the music he composes for other work tends to be solid. This is the only thing about this movie that's actually had me excited.
Here's his IMDb page and a list of some film's he's done:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0628056/
Newman has scored Serenity, Anastasia, all of Danny DeVito's directorial works, Ice age, Scooby-Doo, Galaxy Quest, and the Phantom.
He's the brother of another one of my favorite composers Thomas Newman and the cousin of Randy Newman. His most recognizable trait in the films he scores are really strong emotional piano themes.

I'm excited.

Did he compose the piano song on the first trailer? I like that song.

No, that's Ennio Morricone's score from The Untouchables.

They should just use the score from the Untouchables.

Lol. I kinda wish Danny Elfman was composing it, hes really good. None of Newman's work stands out in my mind but I give it a shot.

David Newman's Anastasia score is fantastic.

I would have loved Danny Elfman to do the score. But I liked the score Newman did for The Phantom, so I have no problem at all.

Hmm...I'll have to listen to his work some time. How does his work compare to that of Danny Elfman and John Williams?

It's not as memorable (although that has to do more with the movies than the score itself), but the man clearly has talent. He should do pretty good.

He did an insanely solid score for the film "Serenity." He was told to give an earthy Western score (So don't worry if the scores are really guitar heavy, that's the directive he was given.) for this Sci-Fi movie, and he delivered. If you wanna hear what he can do for an action score, I say check it out. It's really solid.
Here are all the clips i can find...
This is a collection of clips from his early scores

OK, turns out his entire score is on YouTube. Here's a sampling, but the rest is all on YouTube from the same user. I really hope I don't get banned for this.

serenity has one of the greatest scores ever, and is one of the top5 best sciFi movies ever

Does anybody have a link to the clip of Spirit talking to Ellen Dolan? I think that had some music in it.

Actually, there's a clip of Spirit fighting Octopus in some mud on WorstPreviews.com, and we hear some tambourine-heavy score there. It sounded cool.

Considering the movie itself, it would be better if Alfred Newman would compose the soundtrack.:woot:

The Spirit producer Deborah Del Prete said, “We were very fortunate to have a wealth of choices. After seeing samples of the footage literally everyone we wanted to meet with was very excited about taking on the film. The hardest part was having to say no to so many really great music makers. After consideration, the highly accomplished multiple Academy Award nominee David Newman joined the team.

Frank wanted elements of the ‘40s jazz sound married with iconic heroic music and even a touch of the spaghetti western. David was able to bring it all home for us.”

Great! Thank you for posting this, man.
Yeah man, anytime.

For all of my *****ing and moaning about my negative feelings about the impending quality of the flick, I'm really looking forward to the score.

Did any clips of the score ever end up on the Internets?

No. If you've seen the movie then you've heard the score. If you like the score than get the CD.
