Nah, I'd rather Wahlberg keep on working with directors like Michael Bay. :o

Mark Wahlberg is a GREAT actor. Dirk Diggler, Sgt. Dignam, Micky Ward, all great performances.

Damn, I forgot about Dignam. Yeah, he was amazing in The Departed.

I really want him to do a voice for an animated flick, I'm actually shocked he has yet to do that.

He was good in the departed but that role was so right up his alley especially the tough guy boston thing, that he probably didn't have to stretch too much to get there.

Wahlberg has come so far since he first got into acting. I think he mellowed personality wise as well, and that helped a lot. I agree totally that he is underrated, but he is still young yet. Once his career is seen in it's totality people will put him up there with many of the greats.

On a different topic, does anyone know if there are going to be advanced showings in certain cities before the wide release on the 18th? I was so hoping NYC would have had some already.

^That is damned kind of you sir/madam. Thanks.

I think Wahlberg is a very good actor, but I feel he really needs a great director to guide him to his potential. His best performances were in films with O Russell, Scorsese and Paul Thomas Anderson in the director's chair, three of the best directors in Hollywood right now.

Back to American Hustle, I'm surprised there has been less talk about Bale in this film. He looks so damn great in the trailers.

Just going by what I'm reading, it sounds like his character and Amy's are more subdued (someone also said that Bale's character is very passive which is very different from the original script) compared to Lawrence and Cooper who are both playing crazy/out of control types so maybe that's why? Renner's character also apparently has very little to do. Bale's performance is praised (as well as the others) but I think Lawrence will be the most talked about aspect of this movie when it's all said and done. Her character just looks so damn fun! Bale is definitely getting more ink with Out of the Furnace (so far).

FYC ads!

That's odd. The trailers and the whole con-man aspect really made me think his character would be pretty over-the-top. Nothing wrong with it not being like that. Its just simply unexpected.

I didn't like the trailer because watching it, you'd have no idea what the movie is about.

I have no idea if Bale and co. are politicans, mobsters, con-men, or FBI agents.

Yeah, I guess we'll see. There was someone who saw it (I think it was Tapley) who said that his character was not as it was advertised or something to that effect. Or maybe it's still over the too but not just as wild compared to the others?

So far at the NYFCC's, American Hustle has picked up two awards, one for 'Best Screenplay' and another for 'Supporting Actress' - Jennifer Lawrence.

I'm making a point of not watching the trailer prior to watching the movie, an act of faith in the great Russell.

Well congrats to the film and Lawrence. A lot of Oscar watchers were counting her out when she didn't get a nom at some award thing I never heard of before. She's still in the race. Especially if she gets a SAG nomination. Of course I my main concern are what my feelings of the film will be.
