I really became a fan of Cooper's since the first Hangover. Dude continues to impress and slowly becoming a favorite of mine.

I actually know Cooper from Alias because I was a huge fan of the show and the other Jennifer (Garner) at the time.

I just mentioned Pines and SLP but I forgot Limitless. Good movie, good performance. I hate him in A-Team though but then again I also hate A-Team so it's all intertwined.

The only thing before SLP that I knew Bradley Cooper from is the Hangover franchise and those are fun movies but I never took it or him seriously to judge if he was a good actor or not. Safe to say after SLP I changed my mind.

I remember liking and being introduced to Bradley Cooper in The Midnight Meat Train.

^.....will just let that one go.

She really does own the role for the amount of time she's in it.

She did. People were actually applauding after a few of her lines when I saw it tonight. And she is entirely too young for that role (I thought the same about Silver Linings), but she was amazing.

The movie is a lot of fun. Worth it for the performances alone...it was like everyone was trying to out-ham each other. I really enjoyed it.

lol Ah that's great. I really liked him as Will but I never rooted for he and Sydney to hook up. I was strictly a Sydney+Vaughn gal.

I shipped him and Sydney's other friend. Who was that? The one that died and got replaced by her enemy.

Ha, I loved Cooper in Alias so much. I was never a Sydney/Will "shipper," but I adored Will. I honestly haven't liked Cooper as much in anything since, though I do still think he was good in Silver Linings and Limitless.

Off to see this film soon. Review soon.

When it's announced 5 Oscar winning and nominated actors are cast in a David O'Russell film it immediately becomes a must see movie, and American Hustle doesn't disappoint. It is without doubt the best ensemble performance of the year, each of the 5 main actors delivers a completely unique performance built around a clever story heavy on plot, character and humour.

Ultimately it's the cast that elevates the rather convoluted scam plot O'Russell has created. Whilst the film has great humour the film sometimes gets too bogged down in fine details and quick editing to fully follow the happenings, that said everything clicks into place by the time the final act comes around. Attention is best paid to this movie otherwise you may end up getting lost along the way.

The one downside for me was the setting of the film in the late 70's. It felt like the time period was wasted and in most cases unnecessary, other than cool looking 70's costumes there really doesn't seem to be a great deal of purpose for the time period. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but I know I felt a bit disappointing the 70's didn't really play a part in the movie.

The cast of course is fantastic. Bale is great, a scam artist who over the course of the film is dragged into deeper and darker situation thanks to being blackmailed by FBI agent Cooper, who's an ******** of a character in every sense of the word with the aim of getting what he wants. Lawrence is great, the only issue I have is her age does stand out against the rest of the cast, but she more than holds her own in the ensemble and will probably garner a second successive Oscar nod. Renner is great, he plays a genuine good guy just trying to do the right thing caught up in a mess he inadvertently created. The weak point is Amy Adams, it might be nit picky but she stands out as being the only piece of miscasting, albeit her performance is still good, it's just not to the level of everyone else.

Overall it's probably not quite as good as Silver Linings but it's still a solid, entertaining movie. I will say it's a movie I'll have to revisit later on because I feel as if there are a lot of little details that can easily be over looked. This is very much an actors movie, and come Oscar time expect this to be a big player.

8/10

The 70s are when the actual ABSCAM scandal happened.

The actual ABSCAM investigation took place in the 1970's, so setting it in that time wasn't just appropriate, it was mandatory.

Haha, Midnight Meat Train is an awful movie. Well, really, it's not bad until the last 20 minutes or so when it just turns into ridiculous crap. But Cooper is good in the film.
