The film was good, but not great. The problem is the story wasn't as strong as the characters and acting, which were great. The ending fell a little flat.

I agree with that, even though I liked the ending. There were some terrific performances from the five leads and even though he only had one scene, that was De Niro's best work in years. But I didn't care that much for the story itself. It felt like it was trying too hard to be a Scorsese movie. I did like it a lot more than Silver Linings Playbook, though.

I am quite surprised that this is getting a lot of Oscar buzz to begin with. I didn't hate the movie, but is it oscar worthy? Far from it.

a lot of the performances are worthy of oscar's attention. but its certainly not best picture/director worthy. there were so many really great performances that created so many great moments and interactions. it was just the bigger picture missed the mark in the end.

im intrigued hearing that a lot of stuff was cut out. I'd totally wanna check out a directors cut, that might bring it all together and be the movie i expected it to be. as is, its still a good movie. and it wasnt far off from being great. but like i said, it just didnt end up clicking.

Russell needs to do a musical. His use of music is so spot-on. The music is the 2nd best thing in the movie (after the performances).

All I know is...hearing "I saw the light" almost made me scream with joy in the theater.

Bruce Wayne and Clint Barton singing their hearts out to Delilah. :awesome: :hrt:

I lol'ed at J.Law's rendition of "Live and Let Die".

^ Best opening sequence everrrr.... :o :p

Who doesn't want to dance with BCoop or Adams whenever I Feel Love comes on?! :awesome: That reminds me... I need to download the OST.

Great movie. Is it Best Pic material? I can't say yet till I see 'Wolf of Wall Street' and 'Her'...

I think the film is fine as is, though I think the plot can be a bit muddled up. Despite that the performances are pretty amazing. Loved Louis CK as well.

Heh, Bruce, Lois, Rocket, Mystique, and Hawkeye :D

I really liked this movie, didn't quite love it. All the leads were fantastic, though.

Michael Pena is in it, so yes.

These Happy/Sad/Confused of the cast give me so much life. :funny: He waited until Christmas to post Bale's because some were not believing that he really got him to do it. :hehe:

LOL, people continue to believe Christian Bale is a way more serious guy than he is. From the interviews I've seen, he seems fun and like a total sport.

American Hustle isn't about it's plot, it's about it's characters conning other people and themselves. It's funny, charming, entertaining, very well acted and mostly well paced. Is it a great movie or great actor showcase? Right now I'll say great actor showcase and good movie. I like Bale better when he isn't brooding so I loved him in the film, Amy Adams gives a great subtle performance and Cooper and Lawrence are also very good. Renner is fine but nothing compared to the big four. Renner as an actor just doesn't do much for me in general.

RATING: 8/10

^ I would have to agree with everything in the post above 100%, I think that Renner is general is just an ok actor but I admit this is the most I've enjoyed him in anything I've seen him in aside from The Town.

Same, as was I. I don't see how anyone could called that scene "awful".

Awful was a bad term, it was out of place and way too campy. I really liked the rest of the movie but that scene made me roll my eyes.
