David O. Russell's "Joy" (Jennifer Lawrence)

I like Jennifer and David but I think he miscast her in Hustle. I hope it isn't becoming blind love.

well if she were to sign on to this film she would play a 33 year old mother of 3 so you don't have to worry about that anymore (sarcasm)

Is David O. Russell still a notorious assh***? I'm sure George Clooney still wants to beat his ass.

The title to this thread should be changed to:

Jennifer Lawrence to star in every new David O. Russell film

David O. Russell's next movie, titled 'Joy,' will be released by 20th Century Fox on Christmas Day 2015.

'Joy' tells the true story of Joy Mangano, the Long Island single mom who invented the Miracle Mop. Jennifer Lawrence is rumored to star.

O'Russell needs to find a role for Christian Bale and Amy Adams...

Bradley Cooper at this point should just call Jen his work wife.

Oh and this^^

He's probably reserving them for the one after this. :funny: There was a recent interview with Russell where he said that he and Bale are working together again but it doesn't seem to be for this one. He also said back then that he wanted to write a musical for Amy.

:funny:

I can't hate the guy for trying to work with actors that work for him and his movies and these people are some of the best out there. So it's not as though he's getting rubbish actors here.

But come on man! get some fresh faces in these movies.

Bale is doing Jungle Book next isn't he? and Amy is busy with the Janis Joplin bio and Story of Your Life.

Russell's directing style is not for everyone (he's very in your face and spontaneously changing stuff on the fly) so I suppose that's why he loves to stick with actors who are used to his style already. Not to mention that he's had great success (and vice versa) with these actors. It would be nice to see more fresh faces though or at least mix up his recurring cast a bit.

I think Bale's done with Jungle Book so his schedule is open but for some reason, I have a feeling that he's not in any rush to work with Russell anyway. And yep... Amy's quite busy with the two projects you mentioned.

I wanted DOR to go back to his Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees phase. American Hustle was him trying to do his best Scorsese impression. Now he is making a film about the invention of the Miracle Mop. He is THIRSTY for that Oscar.

Silver Linings Playbook was ok. He use to be such an interesting filmmaker.

Thanks Kvz.

Sam you missed out The Fighter arguably his best in this recent trilogy of his.

The Fighter was my favorite among the three as well.

Bale was great, but I did not like the film. I must be in the minority.

I enjoy Huckabees so much. Really dig the bat **** insane performances.

What happens in a meadow at dusk?

As long as it keeps working, I have no problem with him casting the same actors. Though I do agree it starts to seem a bit gimmicky. It is not quite the same as Scorsese and De Niro or Leo.

I like the Fighter, but the biggest problem with the Fighter is the boxing scenes and that Mickey was by far the least interesting character. Out of the three my favorite film is SLP, with Bale's performance in American Hustle being my favorite thing period.

Another David O. Russell film starring Lawrence and Cooper? This is starting to get almost as tiring as Tim Burton casting Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

Maybe when the movies start to suck I will agree. But until then, nah. :cwink:

I hope we get sequel to The Fighter.

Man I really want to see these guys back for the Ward V Gatti trilogy story because that's what he's known for. Yeah Micky's early story was fascinating but it aint nothing compared to Gatti/Ward.
