David O. Russell's "Joy" (Jennifer Lawrence)

Ramirez is the hotter one. :p

Well thanks to this thread about the news on the director, I have no reason to see this movie and I hope Russell will learn to behave!

Russell put Nolan in a headlock during a party and would not let go unless Nolan agreed not to cast Jude Law in The Prestige. This is a fairly well known story, Russell's career derailed after this incident for several years.

I'd always heard that it was over Brad Pitt in Memento and whatever Russell was doing at the time, and Pitt ended up doing neither movie.

Either way, that plus everything else makes Russell a grade-a ****wit.

Three Kings is the only top notch film Russell has done. He's got some great performances from his actors/actresses in all his films, but Three Kings it just all came together. Probably because he was still hungry and wanted to make a mark. Now he just copies Scorsese.

Copies him rather poorly. Wolf of Wall Street came out the same year and showed the difference between the master and the pretender.

Yeah, the supposed similarities between the two directors are weak.

O. Russell wishes he was on Scorsese's level.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if this nabs at least 2 acting nods again with possibly even a win.

It's well-documented how much I despise O. Russell and his work.

But that was a damn good trailer.

Good trailer. Doubt I'll see it in theaters, as my Christmas break theater visits will be solely divided between Star Wars and The Hateful 8, but it doesn't look half bad.

I'm not excited for this. It looks like you're standard, current-Russell fair. I still think Lawrence was, once again, miscast by Russell.

Either way, the voters are gonna eat this **** up come awards season.

Looks like typical Oscar-baity boring shlock crap. Pass.

O' Russell has her by the proverbial balls. http://bit.ly/21mcPo2

Jennifer Lawrence on Saturday said her film “Joy” is a tribute to “women who are the unsung heroes of their households.” She also paid tribute to writer-director David O. Russell, saying she would do “anything with David until the day I die.”

Yeah, he knows she is a ticket to getting anything greenlit and award considered.
