David S. Goyer is gone from The Flash.

man i was really sad to see Goyer go, although i'm hoping that his casting choice of Ryan Reynolds would remain. the guy was born to play The Flash

I don´t who should play the Flash, and honestly, that´s the least of my problems.
I just know that, unless someone makes a movie about Barry Allen and Barry alone, the movie will fail or be less than it could.

That was the biggest reason i was so against Goyer....besides the fact that he can´t direct or write.

I'm all for a Barry movie, but I don't think it would fail if it didn't have him. I would be fine with just a Barry cameo.

C´mon, in Barry you have a full out, great, serious and dramatic trilogy...the raise and fall of a superhero, from his origin to his demise.

See it like this, make 3 movies.
The first being the introduction, with a huge secondary by Jay Garrick.
Second, you have the introduction of Wally West and how a kid deals with having superpowers.
The third movie, you have the tragedy, Barry´s death and Wally filling his shoes.

Then you go to the 4th, 5th and so on....

So glad Goyer is not directing The Flash,Glad he wrote it,just glad he's not directing it.

Don't think anyone has posted this yet...it's a follow up from his Flash announcment from his Myspace page.

Flash redux

Hmmm. Attempted to post a bit more about The Flash and it appears to have disappeared. Well, in any event, just wanted to say thanks to all of you who've expressed their regrets, etc.

To be honest, when WB first approached me about doing The Flash, it seemed a little too good to be true. A part of me thought they'd never really make a movie like that. For the record, the script did involve both Barry and Wally as The Flash. I wanted to showcase the legacy aspect of the hero -- as that was something that hadn't been explored yet in film. Like Batman Begins, the script drew on some seminal comicbook runs (Mike Baron, Mark Waid, Geoff Johns).

There have been other super-hero scripts of mine that fell by the wayside. An R-rated Ghost Rider script that Stephen Norrington was going to direct. A horror-centric Doctor Strange script for Sony (which portrayed Mordo and Dormammu in a very Lovecraftian light). Even a pretty crappy Venom/Carnage script that I got roped into writing for New Line!

Andy Walkers script for Batman/Superman was great. And I'm sure Whedon's Wonder Woman is pretty damn cool as well.

The truth is, I've had a remarkably good track record with these kinds of films so far, so I don't have a lot to complain about. My peers and I are well-compensated for what we do. We're essentially living the dream we'd envisioned when we were kids. Now we get to meet and work with people we viewed as roll models and heroes.

Just the other day I had lunch with Wendy & Richard Pini, the creators of Elfquest. (And I can remember buying their very first issue back in 1978 when I was just thirteen). I got to have dinner with Neal Adams before the Batman Begins premiere. Work with the likes of Stan Lee and Mike Mignola.

In the coming weeks I'll post a bit more on the projects I've been working on since the Flash's demise. (One of them takes place in the DC Universe.) Until then...

Barry and Wally in the movie? And exploring the concept of the Legacy Hero?? *sigh* A Pox on you Warner Brothers.

To have Barry and Wally in the same movie, being it an origin movie, would be to butcher both characters and the all legacy aspect of it.
It just shows, once again, that Goyer can´t write s**t.
He goes with a run he likes, and forgets that, to get to that run, the characters have been throught a lot.

Goyer doesn´t deserve being in all those comic book movies, he doesn´t even deserve to be in one.
The thing is, he is a fan, and he wrote comics (JSA)...and so what?
Once again i say, he can´t write s**t, except action scenes.
Why'
Because no matter how much he loves it, he is only capable of viewing it as action/thrilling movies, nothing more, he can´t write characterization, he can´t write drama, he can´t make people care for the characters, he only knows how to make them fight and jump around.
All Blades have sh**ty scripts, but because he is a fan, he knew how to revamp the character, kudos for him in that department, but that doesn´t change the fact that the movies have horrible scripts.
And don´t give me the all Batman Begins crap, because he could have been his best script, but it was mediocre at best.
So, he gave us Bruce travelling the world, so he gave us Bruce "constructing" the Dark Knight?
Big fu**ing deal, any fan would have done that too, Sam Hamm didn´t because that´s not what they (Burton and him) wanted, they wanted to tell the story of Batman, not Wayne, and not to reveal nothing of his past besides the fatidical night.
And Hamm´s script is light years better than Goyer´s.
And besides, Goyer didn´t even gave us Wayne´s travellings, he only gave us the meeting with Ra´s.
And the all physicological angle was scrapped and replaced with lines that resemble something out of fortune cookies like.
You guys loved Batman Begins, great, so did i, but because of the Nolan´s masterful work, not because of the mediocre script.

There was likely some time travel in Goyer's script. Hence Barry and Wally in the same film. Maybe even working together. It would be interesting to see what he came up with, regardless.

You're exactly right, that's just the way it is right now I guess. Flash and Wonder Woman both have a lot of potential to be good movies. Its just that DC knows how hard it was to bring Superman and Batman back to film and they don't want to take any other big risks. On the other hand, Marvel is the opposite and wants to get all their properties on the screen even if they flop. They understand that for every Spider Man there's a Dare Devil, but its okay with them as long as it gets made. DC apparently feels that they can't live with embarrassments like Batman and Robin and don't want to make it any worse.
But Daredevil made over $100 million!

Shawn Levy is directing the Flash...Shasty...MCNASTY!

Ouch. Well, this can either be a good or bad thing.

Exactly my thought. I dislike Goyer's work but I want a good film either. So, for now I keep waitinto know more about the film.
I agree with Thesage, they "should" have G.Johns and/or M.Waid write the film!
It seems so logical!! G.Johns already wrote for the cinema ; it seems to me there is a logical opportunity here ...
but I supposed Hollywood producers won't find it as logical as me ... oh well ...

I like his Doctor Strange Idea

Is Goyer's Ghost Rider script available? I'd like to see how it holds up to MSJ's version.

Damn, that sounded promising. :csad:

Another project in the DC Universe? Hmm... Green Lantern? Green Arrow?

I dig Goyer's work, but i'm glad he's off the script cause every comic book movie doesn't have to dark and brooding.. I mean f***, Flash is colorful and intense. I can't wait till the world gets burned on comic films and makes way for something new.
