So for those that have seen it; does it indeed feel as though the titles of the two movies should be switched around - where this should have been called Rise and the previous movie Dawn…?

I think that was a purely cosmetic criticism.

Rise and dawn were always interchangeable titles.

Back up to 8.6/10 avg. on RT. Still at 97% with 34+ and 1-.

Well, Slant actually liked it. So I must redact my previous statement about waiting for their negative review.

Wow, I haven't seen such glowing reviews for a summer blockbuster in a really long time. Won't be able to see until next week but I can't wait man

Well damn. I was not expecting this level of praise. It's pretty awesome. As of right now, it's the most praised summer blockbuster since TDK.

Damn, FOX has been on fire lately DOFP, Dragon 2 and maybe this movie (most likely) will be 90% and over in terms of critical acclaim. This is the next movie I want to see in theaters.

Most praised summer blockbuster since HP7.2

I think this new Apes series is underrated especially when it comes to the how critically acclaim they are.

The SciFi channel is showing the old movies back-to-back. Why the **** don't they do this kind of thing more often?

I don't know. The sequels were good. Well 3 and 4 were. The second one was okay and the last one was soso for a tv movie.

And I like that the new series took a page from the old sequels to give 'Cesear' credibility and weight as a character in pop culture.

Exactly :woot:

And to think 3 years ago no-one was cheering this franchise on, Rise took everyone by suprise and now the series has delivered again with Dawn. It's actually turned out to be one of the best film series in the last few years, maybe even the best after Dawn.

X-Men faced a similar situation, now anticipation for the next is as high as the other big heroes

Good question.

They use to do stuff like that more often but stopped for some reason.

Low ratings, maybe?

So it looks like another 21 positive reviews with out a single negative is what it'll take to get to 99%. That's a tall order but I'd love to see it do that.

It deserves it.

Hopefully it can stay above 96%, that'll make it the highest rated film of the year.

Having watched the film even if you don't care for the story, or even if you feel it's too depressing, you're going to struggle to say the film is actually badly made or unambitious. I don't see the critical response to this dropping below 95% with an 8/10 average.

I just got The ART OF book for this and RISE. It's great. I was always disappointed they didn't release one for RISE so I was very happy to see them include it with the DAWN book. Can't wait to see this tonight.

I'm planning on seeing it Saturday... but I wanna see it on Friday!

So the critic from Salon just posted his negative review. In all honesty, if you're going to critique a film at least have some self respect and not write it like you are a 12 year old.

Reviewers like him are the reason good movies can't get the best scores possible. It's a real shame that a baseless review like that is going to bring the score down, and there'll be more like that.
