I think a little more Maurice wouldn't have gone astray either.

Which one is the gorilla? Is there more than one? Is Maurice the only orangutan?

Maurice is the orangutan. I don't recall the gorilla's name. I don't even recall Caesar's son's name. Ash called him Blue Eyes but I don't know if that was his actual name or nickname.

So it's more like Planet of the Chimpanzees with their friends, the gorilla and the orangutan. Hmm, gotta beef up their populations too.

THIS MOVIE. I don't even know what to say.

Definitely tied with Cap 2 as my favorite of the year so far. Heck I'd say tied for favorite of the last two years. This was a great film. So much raw emotion! Fantastic performances all around.
The only complaint I can think of ( and its really just a nitpick ), is that sometimes the apes were obvious CG. But then sometimes the CG was absolutely fantastic. Especially on Maurice. He looked like an actor in a suit in a lot of shots.
Anyway, 10/10!

I was actually happy that he got as much screen time as he did, since he was one of my favorites from Rise. [BLACKOUT]And they gave him a line to boot! If there was any moment in this that came close to catching me off guard like Caesar's "NO!" in Rise, it was Maurice's "Run." He's like the orangutan Walter White. [/BLACKOUT]

Koba's actually a bonobo so there's at least 4 different species within the community.

I've purposely tried to avoid trailers and reading reviews for this. Have tickets for tomorrow (Friday) and want to go in fresh. :)

You're gonna love it. It was truly great. Worth seeing in a theater for sure.

Wow this movie was wow. I loved it just like the 1st one. It pretty shot up to my 2nd best movie of the year. If you liked the 1st one you are going to like this one.

Yeah, it's actually hard to call Koba a villain really, where he's coming from is completely understandable, as is Gary Oldman's characters. Koba just takes it a step too far. So there's really no villains in this film.

What koba did was justified up until major spoilers.

[BLACKOUT]He shot cesar and blamed it in the humans. He discovered that the humans had a lot more guns to kill the apes with and tried to convince cesar that humans couldn't be trusted. Cesar wasn't having it so Koba took matters into his own hands.[/BLACKOUT]

Like I said he let his hate cloud his judgement and consume him.

Indeed. Caesar even says something along the lines of "From the humans, Koba learned hate. And nothing else."

On a side note, I was just talking about the end of the movie with someone (who also saw it, I wasn't been a spoiler-jerk) and, I'm surprised to say... actually getting a little choked up. Over a CG friggin' ape... :O

Loved it.

I was surprised at how emotional the movie can get ya. I choked up a tad when
Ceaser was in his old room watching the video of he and Will

Part 3 is going to be EPIC.

Ladies and gentleman, THIS, is what blockbusters and sequels should be like. Genuine, emotional, upping the scale but still feeling personal, depth, fantastic characters and stunning visuals. THIS is why we go to the movies, my god I can't praise this film enough. I seriously have little to no complaints about this film at all.

5 out of ******* 5.

I went in knowing nothing and loved this movie. Overall, it's a tour de force. Most of the CGI work is truly incredible and it's hard to believe what they've accomplished here.

This was a great stepping stone to a true 'Planet of the Apes' film. Can't wait to see where it all goes next.

I have only seen one trailer for this, but may catch it sometime this weekend. Sounds good.

I got my tickets for tomorrow. :woot:

Seeing it in 5 1/2 hours. Does anyone know if there is any additional scenes during or after the credits? It seems like most movies are doing that now, but I'd hate to sit through the credits and find out there is nothing there.:cwink:
