DC Online....YES! DC ONLINE!

It always amazes me when people ask this question.

Moreso when people realize that all MMOs do this.

If you actually know the reason why MMOs charge subscription fees and are still asking this question, then, well... that just hurts.
the question comes up bc its not ust any MMORPG, its a Sony developed one and one of the big things they've been promoting with the PS3 is free online play

This will be the first MMO I'll play, how much do other MMO cost per month?

I hate their page. I always get send to the myspace main page.

Sons of Batman.

Count on it.

Anyone know if we'll have to pay monthly? I mean...we probably will, right?

Looks interesting. But I aint gonna dish out monthly payments if thats whats required.

I wouldnt mind if its like Guild Wars. You buy the game and then its free to play but you buy any addition expansions or whatever if you want as it comes out.

Well, that's the thing. I've only heard of how MMO's work....but never actually played one.

I've only heard that some have you purchase the game, but have to pay monthly to play it online.

I have no idea how it would work for this game, especially considering that online is free for PS3.

It could be a dealbreaker for me too, if there's a monthly charge. Huge dealbreaker for me. I hope it's not the case.

You buy the game for X$ and get a 30 day free trial with it. From there on, it's a set amount per month (usually around 14.99 1 month at a time, 12.99 3months at a time or 10.99 12 months at a time) that you pay to play on the servers, to keep said servers up, to enhance the game through content patches and expansion packs, to keep the GM's, so on and so forth.

People who refuse to pay for MMO's are...well...they're different. I can understand not wanting to pay an extra 15$ a month for a game, but most of the time the games make a great use out of it (see most recent commercial MMO's), and most of the time said 15$ a month turns into dozens, if not hundreds of hours a month. MMO's have the "ultimate replayability", in that you can just keep making the other classes you havn't leveled high and go from there. Genius idea really.

Hell, Blizzard pays something like 50million$ a month to keep all their staff and servers up, these games are EXPENSIVE to run if they run largescale, as opposed to smaller games that only have 4 servers or so.

But that's the problem with taking it to consoles. It might not stick with as many console people as it does with PC gamers.

For me, I dont have the time to justify spending so much money on one game. I could never see myself buying a game and then paying $15 a month , just to play that one game, especially with all the other stuff that gets released

Yeah. My playing is pretty hectic in schedule...sometimes I play alot, sometimes I go on quite a while without playing. I've got games on my shelf that I'm still working my way through.

That's why I just went with Guild Wars, it may not be as advanced as some of the MMO's out there, but it is free to play and it keeps me entertained as I go in and out of playing it.

Things are bad, man.

People are less likely to splurge, which I'd imagine they're focus groups must be telling them.

I would consider the fee if it was bi-monthly.
