The world may know them as Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl, but not-so-typical teenagers Diana, Kara and Barbara, alongside their Super Hero friends have much more to deal with than just protecting the citizens of Metropolis from some of the most sinister school-aged Super-Villains of the DC Universe. After all, being teens is tough enough, what with school, friends, family and the chaos that comes with managing a social life. But add super powers and a secret identity to the mix, and things can get a lot more complicated.

Sure, gal pals Bumblebee, Zatanna and Green Lantern Jessica Cruz are always there to lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on, and a fist to punch with, but what happens when Diana and her favorite study buddy and fencing partner, Tatsu, can’t agree on how to dole out justice as Wonder Woman and Katana? Or when Barbara finds out her Gotham-Con bestie is teen-fiend Harley Quinn? Along with all their friends, foes and frenemies, this squad of super teens navigates the unique growing pains that come when you’re a teenager trying to fight the battles of the world and the battles of growing up at the same time.

The new series is a global initiative with Cartoon Network and builds on the successful DC Super Hero Girls global franchise, including direct-to-video movies as well as digital webisodes launched in 2015 and viewed by millions of fans on the DC Super Hero Girls YouTube channel, as well as the DC Super Hero Girls mobile app.

Lauren Faust is executive producer with Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) also serving as executive producer.

It has good talent bts so Ill check it out. Though looks like the comedic time for DC animated shows is continuing.

I actually enjoyed DC SuperHero Girls: Hero of the Year. Have to say though that I far prefer that movie's character designs to those shown in the illustration above.

About time! I was wondering when we'd get news on this. I hope Cartoon Network doesn't screw over this show like it does to all recent DC cartoons sans Teen Titans Go.

Though is that supposed to be Zatanna on the far left?

Excellent, something to get my niece into.

Yup that's Zatanna. Im looking forward to this series! Hopefully it launches the SHG brand even farther and showcases just how awesome the DC Females are!

This looks so much better than the previous version of the show.

The SBFFs were fun to watch a few years back...

I didn't realize she did the SBFFS. I am in on this now.

Its looks rather cute. Any idea when this comes out?

Sometime next year if I remember correctly. Lauren Faust is extremely talented. Im sure this show will have a much broader appear than the web series

The Super BFF shorts were fun. Should be fun here.

Great, looking forward to this.

That was great! but if they keep doing shorts on YT....what is the CN show going to do?

Going to expand on the characters with longer 11 minute episodes I assume. Which is fine. The shorts are to get people’s interest in the concept/show.

I wish DC would stop trying to make Bumblebee happen. I'm all for diversity, but for years DC has been trying to make themselves look better by shoving Cyborg and Bumblebee into their shows. There are plenty other ethnic characters with better powers you could use.

Anyways, I've seen a couple of these promos on YouTube for this and it looks cute, very much like the new My Little Pony, but hey if it works and brings younger children into the comics, then I'm all for it.

Bumblebee has not been pushed nowhere close to Cyborg. She was a guest character on YJ and only starred in the YT Superhero High or whatever. Apart from that name what else they've pushed her in?

I don't think she's been pushed as much as Cyborg has, but I feel like she's the female version of this movement.

I do recall them putting her in one of the Titans movies, at the beginning of it anyways and of course all the DC Superhero Girls variations shows/movies.

I just don't find her particularly interesting and if they just wanted to push an african american superhero into their shows, go for Vixen, she's an awesome character with a rich history and cool power that would translate well to animation. Bumblebee just comes off as a "Wasp" knockoff to me.

The character was a TT in the comics so showing up for 5mins in a TT film makes sense. She's far from the female variation imo.

Bumblebee was probably chosen, as opposed to someone like Vixen, because she has a cute fairy like look, which is easy to market towards little girls. She's also DC's first Black female superhero so she has history on her side. I like Bumblebee, so you'll never hear me complain about her inclusion in anything.
