Rumor!!

Next year, there will be a new Bruce Timm helmed elseworlds BATMAN film titled, Batman: Soul of the Dragon. The plot is as follows:
In this new version of Batman, his Martial Arts training becomes the focus. The film will reportedly center around Batman, Bronze Tiger, Lady Shiva, and Richard Dragon as we learn they all share a common acquaintance. The Martial Arts Master that trained not only Batman but this set of rouges has been missing for a number of years and under mysterious circumstances. When a cursed relic resurfaces, the mystery of their dead master re-opens and Batman and his former classmates face-off in the ultimate test of their Martial Arts skills to gain control of this dangerous relic.

It is (allegedly) slated for release in Spring 2021.

I'm not even sure what elements of the synopsis makes it an 'elseworlds' exactly. Seems like it could be pretty standard Batman fare.

Yeah you’re right.

It doesn’t seem particularly exciting but let’s hope when we hear more than it ends up been better than I’m thinking.

Sounds more like the plot for a video game. I think it has potential, so long as they don't sacrifice storytelling for endless fight scenes.

This sounds incredibly lame but I’ll keep an open mind

Geeks World Wide?

Sounds good to me. Looking forward to seeing Richard Dragon in animation.
Dragon was created by the recently departed, Denny O'Neil.

A hard-boiled, 70's-tinged martial arts adventure (with just a touch of the supernatural) with that O'Neill/Adams style would be pretty amazing.

And with Kevin Conroy's voice (who I feel is a natural for Neal Adams' Batman).

Man, I've watched every single DC animated film, the animated shorts, and most of the animated series. Can we please get some different characters aside from Batman & Superman? I still think a Green Lantern Parallax trilogy introducing Kyle would be sick. Blackest Knight series of movies... Something new. Maybe at least once a year give us something out of the ordinary. I do love most DC animated stuff, just would like to see more of a variety.

I'd love to see Booster Gold, Lobo, Guy Gardner GL, get some love.

Green Lantern really deserves more animated films. Honestly there’s so much ground to cover it may be best to just give him an animated series on HBO MAX

Problem is, the synopsis makes it sound like Richard Dragon is a villain. If so, it could reference the Green Arrow villain who was supposed to have killed Richard Dragon and took his identity in a really stupid storyline. I’ve wanted them to retcon that for years and bring back the real Richard Dragon.

So in theory I can postulate that since Richard Dragon was taught by the same master who taught Batman, he is of equal skill & can best Batman?
Maybe not every time, but is capable of beating him in a fight.

Pretty awesome voice cast, regardless of how this turns out.

Wish Conroy was Batman, though.

I'm liking everything I see about this one. I love the idea of a 70's set BATMAN movie, with a heavy focus on martial arts and I'm sure Timm had alot of fun with the visuals/soundtrack. They need to bring it though with the fight choreography as both Batman vs TMNT and that new Mortal Kombat movie set the bar high.

My only tiny, silly, pay no attention to complaint is that Conroy is not voicing Batman. Especially as the design looks so similar to the B:TAS suit design. It's so similar, it'll be weird to hear another voice coming out of it. Oh well... hopefully Timm has him lined up for something soon.

The OG Richard Dragon is one of the most prolific fighters in DC and one of the few who is capable of handing Bruce Wayne his lunch.

A lot more excited for this now!

Though I’m not familiar with Guintoli’s work. Is he a good actor?

Well... it's something different. Micheal Jai White was awesome as Bronze Tiger in Arrow so I'm glad he's reprising his role in this.
