I feel it's time the two big Comic Franchises should go head to head on the Big Screen.

Once Dc have finished the Superman/Batman movies n the potential JLA movie then bring their biggest rivals to the fray.

What do people think?

This needs so much elaboration...you mean should DC bring other characters to the screen? Of course, but we've been saying that for years even without a rivalry

At least DC has them beat on original soundtracks.

Bump. What, no reply? I guess there's no rebbuttal on this matter.

Heh, pretty funny.:D

lmao, Superbore Returns.

Even when voiced by amateaurs Batman is da man.

do you mean having marvel heroes and DC heroes fighting each other on screen?
don't know about that one bud

That my friend I don t think the son of your son will be young enough to see it coming

Its strange for all DC history the only big screen big budget movies they have made is Supes and Bats why is this?

Marvel = Huge library of heroes AND villains to translate to screen admitedly not always successfully (but there is always the possibility of remakes)

DC = No mass appeal heroes Baring Batman and superman (been done) and also baring Joker, twoface and darkseid (and maybe luthor) has NO interesting villains of note WHATSOEVER.

job done. DC has existed on Bats and supes for FAAAAAAAR to long.

The problem with DC's other big "JLA worthy" heroes is that different characters have held the ranks at different times, which hurts the public's awareness of who they are.

The Flash and the Green Lantern can each be four or five different people depending on what decade you remember. Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West, or Bart Allen? Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart or Kyle Rayner? Is Hawkman an alien or a reincarnated Egyptian? Or do you go with Hawkwoman? Martian Manhunter is a great character, but I think he'd work best in a Justice League film.

Likewise, while Wonder Woman has a TV show people remember, the general person on the street can't name any of the villains from her rogues gallery or explain her origin story in detail, or even say what powers she has beyond her magical equipment. It would take a strong director to hammer out her story into something that resonates with the people at large.

Now let me be clear, I'd love to see individual Green Lantern, Flash, or Wonder Woman movies, but until Warner Bros really sets their sights on making the films happen, they won't happen.

Also, while Aquaman is actually a cool character the Super Friends cartoon basically killed him.

DCs biggest mistake was the silver, golden age thing creating multiple people donning the costume of various heroes diluting the status of each. A good hero should be a one and only, like batman.

Actually, when the comic bubble burst in the forties and fifties, heroes like Flash and Green Lantern were taken out of print, and renovated for a newer audience. When comics were huge again, they decide it would be fun to have the original concepts fight along with their newer versions, and since writers felt this gave comics a sense of legacy, the idea of succesors was born.

Both companies have had their successes and failures...but in different ways.

In terms of movies, Marvel appears to have chosen quantity over quality, whereas DC is scared of quantity all together. Neither of these are good ideas to following, and I think both company's characters have suffered due to it.

It didnt work.
Yes, it did. If you happen to be literate enough to read comics, you should actually attempt to crack one open one day.

The Green Lantern and Flash Legacies have made for some of the best characters and stories in comics today.

It didnt. the characters have become completely diluted by stupidly having other people donning the legacy of the characters there is ONE superman clark kent/ka-el last son of krypton and earths most well known and iconic hero. there is ONE batman Bruce Wayne the dark knight detective who has no powers but relies on a brilliant burning intelligence and a shedload of gadgets to fight crime making him a legend on par with superman. How many Flashes have there been? How many earth Lanterns? its a terrible idea from DC, terrible.

How many earth Lanterns? it was a terrible idea from DC, terrible. this along with the complete lack of notable villains in the DC universe (baring darksied, joker and twoface) is why DC heroes will never really appeal to me.

What I'm saying is that it wasn't a pre-meditated plan, it was a natural evolution of continuity.
