For many years I've heard about this series But I could never find it in my local comic shops and I never looked for it online since I never order online.....Then recently I was at fav.shop and I finally found this#1 of my dreams!

Random dude with a mysterious box!?,I guess that'll be explained latter on,Ben Reilly mysteriously transporting onto a Gotham rooftop and interacting with Joker was an awe moment for me!,....The whole issue was just many characters from each comic brand universe transporting with some already in battle and so that was very random....

But was awesome seeing Superman punch Juggernaut/Bullseye holding Robin at knife point then getting his ass kicked by Robin and Batman knocking him out/Steel vs Absorbing Man/Capt vs Bane/DD vs Riddler/Batman facing Venom/Shazam about to face Dr Doom/Martian Manhunter vs Thing and then some team ups with.....Hawkman&Angel/Supergirl&She-Hulk!.

Ben Reilly arriving at the Daily Planet to work with Clark Kent was damn random But still pretty nice to see!

I f'n love the cover art and I agree with the tagline"The Showdown of the Century"!,How many issues are there??and what would be your highlights of it.

Five or six issues, I think. After a while, it gets into the actual fights, which are a few pages long each, and the outcomes were determined by fan voting. If you want a really epic crossover, find "JLA/Avengers".

Awesome!,Thanx for the info.

I also read this recently, the trade paperback has recently been reprinted with the modern DC logo.

It is undeniably fun, and though the story is just there as an excuse for the fighting, there is a great twist which led to the Amalgam universe. The only real downside is that it's so clealry rushed; the art varies between great and borderline amateur, and most of the fights are a few exchanged punches and a knockout. It would have been great to see Hulk versus Superman go on for hours, while other fights go on at the same time. Also, one would happily sacrifice the number of fights for some better ones; I'd happily lose Wolverine versus Lobo and Wonder Woman versus Storm to give more space and scale to the other ones. May of them are simply over far too soon, much quicker than we are used to seeing these characters finish their battles. Spider-Man would not defeat someone of Superboy's powers in the minutes he does here, for example, nor would Superman take out the Hulk in three or four blows, no matter how hard.

It would be great to see this project revisited. Just think; DC VS Marvel II, written by Jeph Loeb or Kurt Busiek, with art by Jim Lee. It would fly off the shelves.

never read them but i always wondered how this ever happened ? i mean, aren't marvel and dc supposed to be bitter rivals to each other...

i absolutly love the idea of mixing the 2 i just wondered how this came to be, being a wrestling fan myself, i'd describe it as wwe and tna promoting a show togheter, never gonna happen...

and if they aren't really enemies, then why don't they do this more often..i'd say it opens up a lot of great oppertunitys and would make everyone more money in the end which is the thing they all want anyway.

For the love of all that's holy, PLEASE PLEASE DON'T LET LOEB NEAR IT!!!!

I own every Marvel/DC crossover ever published, and yeah the Amalgam stuff is probably the best. As someone who has bought thousands of comics over the last couple years, let me tell you that if you want complete collections, you'll never find better deals then buying them online. Never.

The two best ways to go are Ebay, and mycomicshop.com, in my experience.

The Marvel vs DC main story was pretty enjoyable, the JLA/Avengers one was even more enjoyable, but the best part to me was the Amalgam issues, including the overarching story for them which is called Marvel/DC All Access and Unlimited Access. Some of the amalgam comics were crap, but most were just awesome. They had some great stuff:
-JLX
-X-Patrol
-Bruce Wayne: Agent of Shield
-Assassins
-Super-Soldier
and of course Dark Claw

All great stuff.
