Dead of Night (The upcoming Dylan Dog movie)

I've been a lot of the movie trailers for this movie & its piqued my interest. I'll probably go see it.

I just came back from watching "Dylan Dog"! What a fun and crafty little movie this was!! I can't speak for the fans of the comic, since I've just barely started reading Case Files, but as a movie, while I don't think it'll make "significant" business at the b.o, I think it's a film bound to become a favorite cult-classic like "Big Trouble In Little China", "Army of Darkness", and "Buckaroo Banzai". Worth checking out.:cwink:

.....and I just want to add;

Bryan Singer, you really underused Brandon Routh's talent for Superman!:argh:

Hi am new here
just wanted to see if theyre were other cities/theaters not carrying the Dylan Dog movie.

Here in Laredo TX it was advertised but neither theater is showing it right now

I'm from a certain city in Texas, also, and I guess I was fortunate that the film did get to be showed in one(only one) of the five theatres that we have here.

Saw it this morning. Wasn't that bad, honestly. During the production, I was getting a little too much of a "Faust: Love of the Damned" vibe from it. I honestly did not expect it making it to actual theaters. Even then, the level of promotion it has been surprisingly decent.

But yeah, it's certainly a fun little film. Most of the creature effects were good, action was solid, etc. I LOVED Sam Huntington as Marcus. His interaction with Routh really made the movie for me. And while Routh is certainly not a great actor, he definitely has personality.

It definitely isn't perfect. When they add CG elements near the end, it ranges from "eh" to "god awful". And whoever edited the film needs to be dragged out behind a barn and shot in the face. There are so many odd, jerky transitions in this film, it's ridiculous.

Overall, an okay film I'm happy I only spent six bucks on.

wow 7% on rottentomatoes, im surprised its that bad.

Box office is even worse. Didn't even break 1 million.

They released this at a bad time shouldve held off until Sept. or maybe January

How many ppl here saw this?

It looked cheap and terrible, it was never going to be a hit. Thats why they dumped it in 800 theaters this weekend. It's also getting terrible reviews so-far.

I mean, people who saw the trailer in my theater thought that it looked like cheap garbage. I know fanboys think that every movie based on a comicbook will be a hit but it's just ridiculous to believe that this film was some hit in the making. It was D.O.A from the get-go. Just like Jonah Hex and other bad looking films of this sort.

I dont think that many people expected it be huge. I think alot thought it would do decent

I didn't, once I saw that the movie looked like an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then before it's theater count was announced I suspected that it was going to get only 1500 theaters at best. And it only started to be advertised for 3 weeks before it's release. Plus the movie is staring a bunch of has beens and never weres.

Decent wasn't even in the cards.

The trailer for it looked like it was fun also seeing Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington team up made for a Superman type reunion.

But my god was the movie terrible, pacing was slow, I just couldn't get involved in the plot and Routh seemed to act the same way he did as Superman......which is to say dull!

But Brandon and Sam did have good chemistry if this was better off as a comedy but I don't think it'll make a dent at the B.O.

BTW at the end I was overhearing people saying this could've been direct-to-DVD, boy are they right on this one.

Yes, I agree with this post so much, though I think Brandon made a terrific Dylan. He definitely brought the character to life for me.

I wanted to love this movie, but I just liked it.. It could have been so much better in more talented hands and with a bigger budget. Oh well. It's definitely a frustrating film for me.

Here are some fair and well-written reviews, IMO:

Finally got round to watching this. Meh.

I was a bit of a Routh apologist when SR first came out - I maintained the film's script and storyline (with an emo-like Superman) were the problem, and if Routh had been given a decent vehicle to star in he would have really shone. Unfortunately, having watched him in a few things now, I've come to the conclusion he just doesn't have the range and charm that a successful actor needs. He looks absolutely fine, he can do the action, he has a certainscreen presence - but his line deliveries are monotone and his acting dull. He just sounds semi-depressed in everything.

Dylan Dog did nothing to change my opinion on that, in fact it cemented it. I want to like the guy's acting as he's a likeable guy, but it's just not happening.

Saw this couple of days ago. Yeah, it was bad. Felt like a tv show pilot.
