Why Bale and Routh arent part of the Justice League

Batman and Batman Returns are disturbing? You guys are soft. :oldrazz:
Next you're gonna tell me that The Exorcist was scary.

I saw Batman when I was 7 and BR when I was 10. I loved them and wasn't scared once. I know it's different for different people, but that's just what I experienced.

LOL, well, I didn't have a problem with them back when I was 5 :woot: but I do remember the Penguin creeping me out a bit, and Joker too, in some scenes. But the whole point of the discussion is that B89 would seem more "disturbing" than BB. BB was softy. :cwink:

I can't argue with that. :woot:

Not at all. I'm just saying BATMAN was more "disturbing" overall. So was BATMAN RETURNS, come to think of it.

BATMAN BEGINS was more in the vein of your typical action movie (stuff exploding, villains plunging to their deaths, people being shot in the back), except with Batman in it. BATMAN took things to a whole different level. I mean, The Joker FRIED a man with a joybuzzer, turning him into a blackened skeleton. The closest thing BEGINS has to a moment like this is when The Scarecrow sees Batman as a demon. But that's not nearly as disturbing.

First off here is the scene in "Batman" (1989):

Clearly this was more cartoonish and notional. You did not see actual burning flesh as you would in reality. The scenes in "Batman Begins" was more real and disturbing to the mind (enough to disturb a child and give him nightmares) and that is the true difference between the two films.

It takes a lot to scare a child these days. They're a lot more desensitised (sp) than we ever were.

Well the The Exorcist was scary to me. i saw it when i was 11 or 12 and it scared the hell out of me.

i just named Simpson off the top of my head as an example of actresses who land roles based solely on how good their bods look. Biel can compete with Simpson in that regard, however if you take just facial beauty Simpson will edge her out. but then again if Biel actually has talent why debase herself to that level? see what i mean?

Well i guess it's a matter of opinion. I think Biel looks better. I happen to think Angelina Jolie is beautiful but I've read and heard a lot of guys who do like her.

Now that's flat out not true. What Cracker Jack box did you pull that one out of?

A movie being "Disturbing" has nothing to do with how many kids had nightmares. It has to do with how disturbing the concept is.

BATMAN BEGINS had your standard action stuff for the most part. BATMAN had The Joker, under the guise of friendship, laughing and carrying on as another man burns to death, leaving him a charred skeleton

No it does. Seeing disturbing things trouble the mind and even causes the inability to sleep. Let's not try to disguise it as something else or try to diffuse it by saying that something else was more disturbing or even try to change the point of this discussion. Clearly "Batman Begins" was more disturbing because of its realism. This is my point and more than likely part of the reason why the film had a poor turnout compared to a film like "Spider-Man".

Well, I thought 'Silence of the Lambs' was funny. So maybe I'm just a little off.

I've never seen Harry Potter, but people keep telling me that it's too scary for kids. I thought those damn books were aimed at kids.

I don't think that it is because Harry Potter is too scary for kids, but that certain groups fear that the franchise could lure children into the occult. There is a piece by Austine Cline that talks about that.

if your kid ends up thinking he's a wizard i blame you not rowling for not teaching him the difference b/w fiction and non-fiction. just saying!
