"Warner Bros. has hired newcomer Gary Dauberman to work with director-producer Guillermo del Toro in writing the script for the big screen adaptation of DC Comics' Deadman.

Variety reports the project is a potential directing vehicle for del Toro, who is producing with Angry Films' Don Murphy and Murphy's partner Susan Montford.

Deadman is the ghost of a murdered circus acrobat who has the power to possess the living in order to seek out his killer, as well as to help the innocent."

I read this this morning on the shh page....What a great start to the day.
Del Toro would be great for this movie I just pray they follow the classic storyline and not the crappy Bruce Jones garbage they are trying to peddle off as Deadman now.

I'll kill them if they don't have classic Boston in his classic duds. I have faith in del Toro though.

It should be the classic outfit he wore as a circus performer, i.e.- the red tights with the big D on the side of the chest.
Considering most of this will be CGI ala GhostRider, they'll need someone like Jim Carrey to be the semi-insane Dead-man.
He could pull it off and not embarrass everyone.

Sounds good to me.

Way to go X on reporting it!

Jim Carrey? Your kidding right? thats horrible casting.

Del Toro is a huge fan of comics. Him being on Deadman is definitely a can't miss. Hopefully they won't bring in anything from the new Bruce Jones version of the character, and keep it true to the original story of trapeze artist Boston Brand. And the classic outfit is a must for the film.

If del Toro does with Deadman what he did with Hellboy, then I think this movie will be a great success.
(I think he'll use the original suit. He's a perfectionist.)

Yeah. Guillermo loves comics, as said before. And he's a perfect match for Deadman. So, hopefully he'll stick with the original outfit, and not introduce something new to the character. I've always liked the fact that his outfit was the one he wore as a circus acrobat.

Oh, I wholeheartly agree with this post. I really don't want something created for him, they need to have his red suit!! :cmad:

But wait, who's this "New" Deadman?

His name is Brandon Cayce. And he's a former airline pilot. Cayce was drugged during a flight, by his brother Scott, which later caused the plane they were piloting to crash. Now Cayce finds himself in various alternate realities, and is still determining whether he's alive or dead, as well as trying to seek an answer to his memory. Bruce Jones is writing the series for Vertigo.

Thanks for the info Batman.

Is Del Toro still planning on making this movie? I read that somewhere that Warner Bros gave him money to shoot a trailer or something.

Supposedly he is/was shooting a fake trailer for it to show to producers while filming Hellboy II.

wasn't there a Deadman TV series planned a while back?

Didn't this character make an appearance on the JL cartoon.

^Yeah where he possesed Batman's body at the end of the episode and make him fire a gun.

He's been overused. I think we need some fresh blood in motion capture in Hollywood now.
