Deadman!!

You can't really be "over-used" when it comes to something like motion capture. He's amazing at what he does and you rarely ever even get to see his face or voice in any of the roles he plays. He's UNDER-used if anything. I'd really like to see a Deadman movie as a starring vessel for him.

Doug Jones was my first choice for DEADMAN. In the proper MAKE-UP he would look just like the Kelley Jones DM. Not sure what "motion capture" roles Doug has done, or why motion capture would even be considered for something like DEADMAN, but Doug would be a great actor for this role!

He was Silver Surfer, Abe Sapien, and Faun from Pans Labrynth famously. Although hes done others.

The movie is about a ghost who floats and is unseen for the most part. I feel like the character will be translucent thus motion capture being used. But what I really meant was that he is an amazing motion actor(my mistake). He has great body chemistry.

It should be the classic outfit he wore as a circus performer, i.e.- the red tights with the big D on the side of the chest.
Considering most of this will be CGI ala GhostRider, they'll need someone like Jim Carrey to be the semi-insane Dead-man.
He could pull it off and not embarrass everyone.

Jim Carrey? Semi-insane?

What the hell Deadman are you talking about?

Deadman/Boston Brand was not insane.. semi or otherwise. He was a ghost.

And Jim Carrey would be totally inappropriate for the role. I've seen him do drama and this isn't something he can pull off.

fixed.

Deadman's always bored me. I mean, he's a ghost who possesses people. I've always felt that he's at his best when he's used as a supporting/enlightening character.

WTF u have against them? Theres only two o them with any fame that starts and stops with the fanboys

Seriously. I've never heard of any one hating on specific motion capture and prosthetic actors before. I's so... odd.

Doug Jones would be perfect, and he deserves to be in a lead role. It wouldn't be suprising if he would be Deadman in del Toro's direction.

I think he was mistaking Deadman with Madman.

From TheOneRing.net:

Guillermo Del Toro said:
In a few days there will be a BIG announcement (big for me, at least) that is not-Hobbit related. BEFORE anyone starts wondering the usual "how does he have time?, Is this detracting form The Hobbit?" etc It is a project that started over 2 years ago, before The Hobbit and will render fruits in the mid-term, not intruding on my Hobbit duties. Rest assured.

The key letter is "D"

Guillermo Del Toro Doing Deadman Before The Hobbit?

I'd agree that there's probably not a franchise in Deadman. But, ghosts with unfinished business have a long tradition in fiction and movies. And Boston Brand has an attitude which helps him stand out.

I'll be interested in seeing if they incorporate some of Neal Adams visuals into the mix. Adams really got trippy during portions of his run.

It could work in the right context. Almost anything could work. Anyone think THE LOVELY BONES has anything to do with this sudden interest in DEADMAN?

I kind of think that The Hobbit has quite a bit to do with it. And, perhaps, courting Del Toro to possibly pick up the Batman franchise after Nolan is done with it.

but that was a given..the directing job is going to that Danish filmmaker.

Interesting. He could be still just producing the film and not directing.

We already know this as fact. Nikolaj Arcel will be directing Deadman

Any actors whose schedule is open? Maybe they have their leading man?

Not totally. I think Pan's Labrynth did, and that Del Toro has just been too busy.
