But with an R-rated Deadpool movie, that's what would happen. Just look at the video game. That was too far, imo.
The video game has the tone I would prefer. Deadpool should be extremely vulgar and violent.
Mike Murdock said:What does the comic do? I would assume they don't have curses actually printed, do they
Couldn't a PG-13 Deadpool movie do the same? Even make it obvious and have Deadpool complain about how he's being forced to bleep it because it's a PG-13 movie?
I actually think this might be the best way to go for the movie, could be funny if done right, kinda in the same way with the GOTG trailer where it was funnier when they censored Starlord flipping the bird than it was actually showing it in the film itself.
the only reason ONLY reason why the test Deadpool teaser got so much attention was because it was R rated. thats a 100% fact.
I don't think thats fact. Maybe cause everyone thought it was R since the script is. But there was 1 F bomb at the very end (not in the footage), no blood and we didn't see the decapitation. Everything else was punching, neck snapping and a guy getting ran over by a car.
Everything there could be in a PG-13 film. I think that test footage got attention cause it was overall a good representation of Deadpool.
Yeah, I was disappointed that wasn't the movie version too.
Yeah,I didn't get the impression that was R territory.
It'll probably be like the other X films. They'll drop one F bomb, probably say D*** once and have lots of (relatively) bloodless violence. And that's enough for me.Save the excessive stuff for the DVD.

These were my thoughts too - you could even do a gag early on where he forgets to censor an F bomb, then for the rest of the movie it's bleeped out. Generally, you can get away with one or two in a PG-13 movie. Similarly, the violence can be shot in a way that's not overly graphic or Deadpool makes a joke about how he figured there'd be more blood in his movie.
I actually think the character can benefit more from PG-13, since it would allow for breaking the fourth wall (which is one of the defining characteristics of Deadpool anyway). That'd be way different than any other comic book movie we've seen before too.
I'm totally fine with PG-13.
But since it's Fox and not Marvel I don't care.
